You need to thoroughly clean it, then sand it smooth to removew all the loose paint.
Once it's squeaky clean and dry, you can apply high-temperature appliance paint, which is available in brush-on or spray-on form at big box stores like Wal-Mart, home improvement centers like Lowe's and appliance parts stores.
You can use any alliance white spray paint to cover up and respray. It does not have heavy metals in it. BUT in all honesty its a load of bull that customers have unit which peel there is a standard and it not been kept and those manufactoreres should be held accountable. boycott the product. power to the people
Ge micro oven is too expensive. I pay 450 $ FOR GE MONOGRAM MICROWAVE, and paint is peeling off.
Where is the quality control?
The exact instructions will vary from brand to brand and type of paint application used but you can follow these general steps:

Hi there, I also have the same microwave and the paint is peeling inside as well. I don't think it is a good idea to fix it but now that I know it is not just mine I am going to take this further. Obviously there is a manufacturing problem here and I bet that we are not alone. Anyone else out there with the same problem??
I am having the same problem of peeling paint. I don't think this is something that the consumer should be fixing on their own. This is a manufacturer's problem and something should be down or there will be a class action lawsuit drawn up
Same Problem. GE Microwave oven, model number JES1036PWHO2. Paint peeling off of the inside top and falling into the food. Bad product. Door switch broke after we had it about 6 months. The place I work has the same model and it's door switch is also busted.
I am having the same problem with paint peeling on the inside top of microwave. I don't believe this should be a consumers job to fix the manufactures defects. The manufacture needs to step up to the plate and deal with their defective microwave!!!

My GE microwave has interior paint that has begun to peel and at the same time it is beginning to arc.
My microwave is also peeling paint inside. None of the comments
say if it is safe. I am VERY worried, my warranty has expired and I
can't afford to get a new one....I will NEVER buy GE again....
I agree. I don't think the consumer should have to do this. I have a double unit (microwave and wall oven built in) which came with the house. It is less than 5 years old, and I was told by ge to replace the whole unit. They cost upwards of $2,000. That is not acceptable.
yes, I have the GE Profile microwave, Spacemaker II, and I don't know if it is safe or if putting paint on it can even be safe
I am having the same problem, but my paint is peeling inside recessed part where the tray turns around. Now is is uneven and peeling at an exponential rate and making a grinding noise.
