NOTE! WHILE THIS IS NOT A HARD REPAIR, YOU ARE DEALING WITH GASOLINE AND GAS VAPOURS. tAKE THE NECESSARY PRECAUTIONS.
Take out the back seat (there are 2 pull-tabs to release it and it will lift up) and you will see 2 square plates that are screwed down. Remove the one on the passenger's side and you will see the the top of the gas tank and the sending unit (the sending unit contains the fuel pump).
Remove the electrical connector on the sending unit, and then start the car. It should die immediatly. Try starting the car several time to relieve the fuel pressure.
Next, remove the negative battery cable for safety. Then remove the 2 hoses going to the sending unit. One is held on by a hose clamp while the other is a threaded fitting. I REMOVED THE RUBBER HOSE FIRST AND ALLOWED THE GAS TO LEAK INTO A CONTAINER UNDER THE FUEL TANK.
AFTER TRYING TO UNSCREW THE METAL HOSE COUPLING, I REALIZED THAT THE RUBBER HOSE CONNECTED TO THE THEREADED FITTING WAS TWISTING INTO A KNOT. ( THE FITTING ON THE SENDING UNIT DOES NOT TURN_YOU CAN RUIN THE SENDING UNIT BY TRYING TO TURN THE FITTING ATTACHED TO THE SENDING UNIT. )
I HAD TO JACK THE VEHICLE UP, PLACE JACK STANDS UNDER THE REAR WHEELS, AND UNSCREW THE OTHER END OF THE THEREADED FITTING FROM THE SENDING UNIT WHERE IT CONNECTS TO THE FUEL LINE UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. YOU WILL HAVE TO TURN THE FUEL LINE FITTING TO DISCONNECT IT FROM THE LINE THAT ATTACHES TO THE SENDING UNIT. AT THIS POINT, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO UNSCREW THE THEREADED FITTING THAT GOES TO THE SENDING UNIT. IT IS SAFER TO UNDO BOTH ENDS OF THE THREADED FITTINGS AND REMOVE THE HOSE BEFORE YOU ATTEMPT TO REMOVE THE SENDING UNIT/FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY.
Then remove the bolts on the sending unit and remove it from the gas tank.
Replace the pump in the sending unit and then put everything back together.

SOURCE: 2000 gmc jimmy wont start fuel pump comes on and cuts off...

the fuel pressure if leaking could cause this the regulator is located under the intake plenum but you should smell gas .if you dont then most likely the pump is bad ,the pump will come on for 2 seconds when the key is on then go off it will not stay on with just the key on only when you crank it will it .so have your fuel pressure checked with a gauge.

I know you said new fuel pump and filter but I would recheck the fuel pressure. Drive the vehicle with the fuel pressure gauge on it and see if the pressure drops after 10 minutes.

Cause of not my car to start but I changed the fuelpump

Hi there

If it is a fuel problem check to fuel pump relay and fuse.
A immobilizer system can cut the power to the fuel pump also.

Start with the fuel pump. When you get into your car turn the ignition key to the on position but do not start your car.Listen for the fuel
Pump to engage, you will hear a low whine. If you hear the pump engage, that doesn't rule that the fuel pump is fine.It sounds like the pump though.

Where is the fuel pump reset button on a 93 oldsmobile 88

There is no fuelpump reset on this type of car, you may have a bad fuelpump, a quick trick to see if the pump is bad that sometimes works is to have someone hit the bottom of the fuel tank with a rubber hammer while you try to start it and if the car starts then the pump is bad, good day.

I have a 93 town car, just replaced the suspension air dryer, Had to jump start the car to test suspension sys, let the car run for about 30 min to charge battery. Let car sit for the afternoon went to...

I am not saying to drive the car with the Airride OFF, but go into the trunk before starting your car and turn the Airride off and see if it makes a difference. The Airride may still not be right or the drain on your Battery from the Airride is too great to keep the engine running when the Battery is low.

When you try to start it you should hear the fuelpump kick on. If you do not hear it perhaps the Inertia switch in the Trunk next to the Airride switch was bumped or switched off. Push the Inertia switch button before trying to start your car.

Car starts but turns off after a 10 min or so.

This definitely sounds like a fuel pump/filter issue. Good news if it's the filter, it's only about 10 dollars to buy a new one and about 5 minutes labor, including jacking up your car.

Fuel pumps cant be a pain in the arse at times, others are fairly easy. Best way to determine if it's the fuel pump, run over to Canadian tire and pick up an ohms meter. Test the fuel pump that way.
