Check all wire connections to the battery and the starter and check the battery for being a good charge. the buzz sound is from not enough voltage or current getting to the starter.

That throttle cable issue sounds like it may be the culprit. the cable housing (the outer casing for the wire throttle cable) may not be anchored correctly. Which may be allowing you to move the throttle without any change at the butterfly control on the carb. make sure the cable housing is anchored at both ends.. by the throttle control and at the carb area.. That may be your problem... hope it is that simple...

SOURCE: my westwood ride on mower, model 2012 wont start.

Could be a few things, First, you say it's getting fuel, but is the fuel fresh? It may have water in it and act like your engine. Did this problem just start happening? Did you happen to ride over something that may have sheared the key on the flywheel? This would throw the timing off on the engine. If you can try to start it while spraying gas into the carb throat and it keeps running, then it could just be a dirty caburetor or a misadjusted carb float. Good luck, Bill

Why mower wont stay running

so, it seems like it's heat related - if you let it cool down for 2 hours, will it run again? - depending on how old - sounds like either the electrical system, or it might something more deep, like a bad head or head gasket, and when the engine gets hot, it loses compression, and doesn't run.

First thing I would do... next time it dies - pull the spark plug, and crank it - rest the plug on the metal of the engine to allow it to draw a spark... if you have a spark, then you can rule out electrical... and must be something else.

Engine wont start after shutting off to refuel

You most likely have a piece of debris stuck between the needle and the seat inside the carburetor.

Lawn mower cranck but wont start...

Since you already checked for spark and air I would drain all the fuel out of it and check that fuel for water. Over time some lawn mowers end up with contaminated fuel. You can see the water sitting on the bottom of the fuel if you let it stand for a bit in a small plastic bowl.

Be sure to empty and dry out you fuel can as well. Especially if the mower stopped running right after a refuel. Which is a good sign your gas can is contaminated too.

Poulan riding mower starts fine but loses power while running

you realy need to strip the carb out and clean the running jets out,,but dont poke whire into the jets or you could distroy them,,,check you have a good fule flow from the fule tank at the same time,,also take off the air cleaner and have a good look at that if its dirty fit a new one if just a little dirty clean it or wash it out in fule but dry it well before you try to restart the engine,,,also check you have oil in the engine sump!!
yes that sounds daft,,,but you never know,,do you?

CONNECT THE SPARK PLUGS TO THE HIGH TENSION LEADS IE PLUG LEADS,HAVE THE THREADED PART OF THE PLUG TOUCHING THE ENGINE, CRANK THE ENGINE OVER AND SEE IF THE PLUGS SPARK ACCROSS THE ELECTRODES IF THEY DO IT PROVES THAT THE ELECTRICS ARE OK.THE PROBLEM THEN IS EITHER FUEL OR COMPRESSION.ALSO YOU COULD SPRAY A LITTLE COLD START INTO THE AIR INTAKE WHILE THE ENGINE IS BIENG CRANKED,IF IT FIRES THIS WOULD ALSO RULE OUT ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS,IDONT RECOMEND THAT YOU USE THE COLD START OFTEN AS THIS CAN EVENTUALLY DAMAGE THE ENGINE.FINALLY PLEASE GET SOMEONE TO HELP YOU WITH THESE TESTS AND DONT TOUCH THE SPARK PLUGS WHILST THE ENGINE IS BEING CRANKED OR YOU RISK GETTING A SHOCK.HOPE THIS HAS BEEN OF HELP GOOD LUCK.MIKE WEBSTER.
