Hi, It is known problem of bad ccd imager in JVC GR-D30U camcorder. JVC will repair it free of cost. Please click JVC CCD Imager Support for details. Thanks.
JVC has the support page for the GR-SXM260U here: http://support.jvc.com/consumer/product.jsp?modelId=MODL027120&pathId=25&page=3&archive=true. This camcorder can be connected to a TV with the S-video connection (JVC recommends their YTU94146A S-Video cable) or two RCA connections. If you use an RCA composite cable, you use only one of the two audio connections (white) and the yellow video cable.
This is a Iris Problem .....THe Best in house solution is to Bang the camera Lightly with your palm .... other wise send it to a repairman .... coz you wont be able to open the camera to such an extent
While in the record mode, try pressing the menu button (volume) to get to the SYSTEM MENU. Then in the "To System Menu or Next" columns roll down until you find the record mode and press the button to change the mode.
In camera mode if you look through the lens and have a black picture with the message lens cap on and you see that the iris is opening up and there are no bad connections to the ccd then the imager is suspect. Your snowy playback picture problem may just require a clearing however.
