It may be in a basement that is to cool. Unless this is a special low temp dehumid it needs to be in the upper 60's to work correctly. Also a 50 pint is for a pretty good size area, if it is in a small area or if the temp is to cool in the basement it is in it will freeze up and cycle off. 3 min is awfull quick though. It may be low on freon also. Just a couple things to think about.

I have a Frigidaire dehumidifer model FDL70S1 that wont stay running for more than 3 minutes and then it shuts the fan off, but still has power to the unit.

Hi lynn crisp, thanks for your post!

From my understanding you are having a challenging time with your Frigidaire dehumidifier shutting too quickly. It sounds like a possible problem with your sensor or control panel. Are you currently under warranty? I would contact your manufacturer for assistance to a proper resolution. -Matt

EC appears and it doesn't draw water

I contacted CE North America customer service regarding this issue for same unit. They suggested disconnecting for 10 minutes, then reconnecting, turning unit on, and changing settings and run fan on HIGH or TURBO until the EC code goes away. This didn't help with my unit. If this doesn't work, there is no repair provided. Customer Service recommended returning unit to purchase location if under warranty (1 year), however a copy of the original purchase receipt is required. Suggest a call to Customer Service Center at 866-915-1212.

Does not extract moisture from the air. It runs and cycles on and off. I have changed the filter, turned the device off and reset it. Changed the humidity setting. The device is about 4 years old.

Fred, here is an in home test, that will determine whether your unit is working properly or not.

Please the unit in the bathroom, plug it in, turn it ON and set the humidity level at the LOWEST setting. Turn the shower On hot enough to generate steam. Do Not turn the bathroom's exhaust fan ON and make sure any window(s) is closed. As you exit the bathroom, close the door. Wait 15 to 20 minutes before reentering the bathroom. Then turn the shower OFF and allow the unit to run for 5 more minutes. Then, check the water collection bucket for any signs of water. If you find water in it, it's working as it should. It may simply have been a case that the humidity extraction level was originally set to high.

If you found no signs of water in the bucket, the humidity sensor in the unit may have failed or the compressor is low on refrigerant. Either one is repairable, but the cost of troubleshooting it, finding the part and the time repair it, may exceed the cost of a new unit. As, yours is a 4 years old unit.

Hope this helpd you to troubleshoot and solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

When the mode button is pushed, I only receive the option of dehumidifying, or just fan. The manual claims it has a heat option but it is not available. A friend of mine has the same one and they have the...

Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.

Their has to be a model difference issue . I have checked the Manuel and have put a copy of the section, for modes. and their is no heat only mode.

Your unit uses heat anyway, so i really do not know how, heat only would help you. I would say to look at the sticker on your friends model, and see if the numbers are exact.

Default Setting:

When the unit is first connected to a power supply, the electronic circuit board will automatically default to the following factory settings;
Mode: Dehumidifier Humidity Set Air Value:60% RH Fan Speed: = Low

NOTE: In the event of a power failure or the unit is switched 'Off', the most recent settings are retained and restored once the power is switched "On"/resumed.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Depending on the ambient humidity conditions, when power is restored or switched 'On' the dehumidifier may not start automatically under the factory or custom (see page 7) default setting. This is an indica- tion that the ambient RH% level of the surrounding envi- ronment is lower than the current default setting and it may be necessary to select a lower set RH% value.
DRY MODE SELECTION: 1. The unit does not have to be switched on (opera- tional) to select/set a program. All programs can be selected with the unit in the "off" position.
2. Press the MODE button until the Dry symbol is shown in the mode area of the display. Note: Each time the MODE button is pressed, the setting will alternate between DRY (dehumidifier) and FAN (only) mode.

3. Press the or cursor buttons to select the desired RH% operating value. To select CONTINUOUS operation, pressthe buttonuntilthesymbol"--" appears in the SET AIR display. During CONTINUOUS mode operation, the humidistat (control) will be by-passed and the compressor will operate non-stop regardless of humidity conditions.
FAN SPEED SELECTION:

4. Press the fan symbol on the keypad. Each time the button is pressed, the mode selection will alternate between "High Fan" and "Low Fan" speed options. The fan speed you select will appear in the LED display; either a 4 blade fan symbol for 'high fan' or a 3 blade fan symbol for 'low fan' will be shown in the display area.

5. When all settings are complete, press the I/O button to start the selected operation (MODE) and the blue opera- tion light will illuminate.

FAN ONLY MODE SELECTION:
1. Press the MODE button until the fan blade symbol is shown in the mode area of the display. 2. Press the "Fan" symbol on the keypad. Each time the button is pressed, the mode selection will alternate between "High Fan" and "Low Fan" speed options.
3. When all settings are complete, press the on/off button to start fan mode operation and the blue operation light will illuminate.

Dehumidifier icecing up

Three possibilities for coils icing up.

1. Low ambient temperature in the area where dehumidifier is located. If so, shut down and de-ice it. Then move the unit to a different - (warmer) - location and start it up.

2. Heating element - (which cycles periodically to liquify frost on the coils and allow water to drain) - is malfunctioning.

3. Low refrigerant level in the unit.

Unit runs a lot. Doesn't condense much water. Sometimes fan runs alone, sometimes compressor runs alone.

You may also want to check the coils and make sure they do not have dirt or dust on them. If they are clean you may have an issue with the refrigerant level which will cause the coils not to cool properly. For that you will want to contact LG. There could be an issue with the compressor also. LG backs alot of their models with a 5 year warranty. Contact them and let them know about your issue. Make sure you still have your reciept. Here is their contact number:

Dehumidifier not dehumidifying ...

Save the old one for parts if you get the same new one but I def. don't reccomend buying this unit again. The reviews are bad. The fan is not covered under the warranty except first year or extented warranty. I spoke with Kenmore & Sears about this to see if coverd under 5 yr. Only compressor, tubing & refrigeration system(see inside of front cover for warranty info.)

Sound more like a sensor/circuit board problem to me since fan is turning. I think the signal determins which setting fan needs via sensor assembly to run. I could be wrong. Justa thought.

Can you def. hear the compressor come on. You can look through grill to see fan spin & the compressor makes a clank/clunking noise/ The fan & compressor should turn same time. Good luck! If you got any info. on my fan problem & you have update or fixed your problem I ccould use some help. Check post for my problem.. Thanks! panfan1

DH30 Dehumidifier Compressor Does not Operate

I just picked one up at a tag sale, seller said it worked sometimes. Seems to have the same problem as yours. I took the time to tweak all of the connections and then re-soldered the control board with no luck. I finally disconnected the humidity control and it worked fine. By disconnecting the humidity control the unit defaults to it's highest setting and you have to unplug the unit to turn it off. Conclusion so far is that the humidity control rheostat is bad.
Note: Now while running the fan runs continuously and the compressor cycles on and off every 10 to 15 minutes. This may to be normal since the unit appears to be doing its job and I'm not sure how it is supposed to run since a purchased it broken.
