Nothing on monitor

Sounds like either the monitor or video card inside the computer is bad. Try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a friend, neighbor, relative or co-worker and plug it into the computer. If the borrowed monitor displays ok, then your original monitor is bad. If the borrowed monitor does the same thing and not show a display then your video card inside the computer is bad.

Did it boot all the way? Do you hear the fan running, disk drive spinning? If it sounds like it booted but the display is black, try this:
When you press the power button do you hear fansrunning, hard drive spinning, lights on the computer, hear any beeps or lightsconstantly blinking, hear the DvD/CD drive click and the light on the drawer ofthe DvD/CD turn on for a second or two? If so the laptop is trying toboot or may have booted, but the screen is not showing for some reason.

Beep tones and blinking lights tells the technicians what is going on with thelaptop and why it is not booting. Most times it's a motherboard issuewhen you hear beeps or blinking lights continuous.

So, is it powering on and sounds like it's booting up but there is nothing on the display screen? Or is it just not powering on at all?

I will assume it is powering on and booting up, but you don't see anything on the lcd screen.

Shine a flashlight on the dark screen to see if you barelysee the icons on the desktop. If so, then the LCD Inverter is bad.

Plug in an external monitor and see if the display shows up on it. It can beany kind of monitor even the old big fat crt monitors as long as it has a vgacable to connect to your computer's vga port. If so that proves yourvideo card is ok. The video will show on most systems when you rebootwithout you having to do anything. Some systems will require you to hit the FN(Function key) + F1 thru F12. Hold down the FN key then hit the correctkey for displaying on the monitor (F1 thru F12). The correct key willnormally have CRT/LCD on it or it will have the icon of a display.

If you see no icons by shinning a flash light and the external monitor works,then your screen is bad. If you see no icons by shinning the flash lightand nothing shows on the external monitor, then most likely your video card isbad.

* check cables
* boot windows in safe mode, perhaps the screen resolution is too high to display on the monitor

just unplug your hard disk and try to restart the machine and check dont plug the hdd run without hdd

Fn + F5 is what changes external display mode on acer laptops. Press and hold Fn, then press and release F5 to change between three modes:
Laptop display only.
Both displays.
External display only.
OR....
You need to go into your display properties and extend your desktop onto the external monitor. If this doesn't solve it, let me know :)

Remove all data cables and external cards and press RAM than try again

blown capacitors this can be fixed I can help or advise you how to do it but it will require soldering internal components.

Try connecting to an external monitor. If it displays on the external monitor then the LCD is probably dead. If it doesn't display on the external monitor, its a problem with the video card.

LCD issue it needs repair..call tosh if your laptop is still in warranty
