Its time for a service.
Take it to any Rolex re-seller that offers repair or to any good timepiece service center. If its a vintage piece i would recommend sending it to Rolex, paying the extra cost to receive the watch with full Rolex repair documents and service history. The Rolex web site has information on this. Also this company does a fine job on Rolex repair. https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-repair-service

SOURCE: Rolex oyster perpetual datejust time/date setting instructions

Depending on how old the watch is, It may be quick set or older models are not quick set. In older models you need to unscrew the crown, pull out the crown and rotate the crown to set the time, and in order to set the date rotate the hour hand past 12 twice in order for the date to change. Set the date first and then set the hour and min. For quick set models unscrew the crown and pull it out to the fist click this position you can "quickly" set the date by rotating the crown. Set the date and then pull out the crown to the second position out. Rotate the crown to set the hour and min. Then push the crown back in and screw it down.

SOURCE: winding and setting the time on a rolex watch

There isn;t any downloadable manuals for Rolex watches, but operation of Rolex Day-Date is very simple:
1) when you unscrew the crown, it is in winding position,
2) when you pull out the crown to the first click, it is in day and date setting position (depending wich way you turn the crown).
NOTE: to adjust the day or date, previously you have to advance hands forward, passing 12 o'clock (midnight) mark and stop advancing at 4.00 a.m. using the crown in position as described in chapter 3. When done - push the crown fully in, then pull out to the first click and only then adjust the day or date.
3) when you pull the crown further out to the second click, it is in time setting position.
To find the daytime or night time on the watch: pull out crown to the second click and advance watch hands forward till you pass the 12 mark on dial. If the date changes as you pass it - it is the night time (midnight). If the date do not change as you pass it - it is the daytime (noon).
After all settings being done, allways screw the crown back down as it protects the watch from water and moisture.
Never use watch in sauna- it's not designed for that.
Do not forget to rate, please.

SOURCE: it just wont wind

Wind it back and forth at least 15 times, then twist the watch very quickly back and forth a few times. That should restart the balance wheel moving. Twisting motion must be around the axis on which watch hands are fitted.

It seems to me that the company servicing your timepiece (Rolex or otherwise) must have missed something or did not properly service your timepiece.

You are correct that your watch should not require service every ten months. After servicing, your Rolex, like most all automatics, should run properly for 3-5 years depending on environmental conditions. Our Rolex service offers a one year warranty, and if any issues present within that time, the service is free.

I would recommend using a company that has a full time Certified Master Horologist on staff to service your timepiece that offers a warranty on their work. Thanks for the rating, and we are happy to help you and service your Rolex.

If the watch is not worn for a day, is it normal for it to stop or slow down? Vintage SS mens datejust, oyster perpetual.

mcdevito75 here, Yes it is normal, especially if your Rolex is an automatic watch. The motion of your Wrist / Hand keeps your watch wound thru the Counter balance on the movement, as the counter balance turns it winds the mainspring little by little, thus keeping your watch wound. Once you take off your watch, if long enough the mainspring simply un-winds and slows and will eventually stop your watch completely. You can keep your Rolex wound even when you take it off by means of a watch winder, a small machine that will keep your watch in motion, or by hand, by rocking the watch back and firth in your hand for about 30 seconds, say before you gpo to bed at night, this way there is always some wind to your watch.

How due i set the date and day on my daytona oyster rolex

You can get user instructions for their web site http://www.rolex.com/en#/rolex-watches .

Click on "collection" and then choose your watch from the list (incidentally, I couldn't find "daytona oyster" but "Daytona" and "Oyster"!).

At the bottom of the page you will find "downloads".

Click on this and then on "user guides".
