Use the menu to unprotect the image then you can delete. Also you can format the card but that will remove all the images on the card so make sure you've saved it elsewhere.

SOURCE: Can't un-protect Images in My Canon Rebel XS

It sounds like the locking switch on the side of the SD card is in the "locked" position. Remove the card from the camera and slide the tiny switch on the card to the unlocked position. That should do it.

SOURCE: card protected

Use a separate card reader to download your pics. Then, you can format the card in the camera to get it to work properly.

Cannon t3 comes on but will not capture picture

Hi. I would need some more info re your problem but for a start, you say the camera turns on but is there enough charge in the battery to operate the auto focus and the shutter/aperture?
If this is ok, is the memory card full? if so move or delete images from it and re-install it ensuring to insert it properly so you don't damage the camera or the card.If this is now ok and the camera does not capture an image check if the auto/manual switch on the lens barrell is set to "manual" if it is, switch it to "auto" and try to capture an image.
Try what I have suggested and be sure to reply whether the outcome is a success of has failed to solve the problem.

Canon Rebel XT EOS won't erase pics

If the image has a small icon of a skeleton key along the bottom when viewing it, it means the image has been protected. You have to un-protect the image to erase it. This is done from the Playback Menu (the one with the arrow on the tab). Specific instructions are on page 115 in the manual. (Manual is available here if you don't have it.)
