My Janome 8000 has behaved perfectly for many years, now suddenly it refuses to recognise the embroidery discs, and when I select 'embroidery' the place where the hoop is to be connected doesn't move out ready for connection. It now won't do ordinary sewing. Much prefers to keep making buttonholes!!! Regards, Sheila X

on the backside of your free arm there is a small lever which can be moved to lower the feed dogs.
When you want them back up move the lever the other way.NOTE!!
They will not go up until the machine has made one revolution.

A good place to see what machines are selling for is Ebay. That's where I sold a sewing machine and an embroidery machine.
It helps to know your product and machine embroidery lingo.
What are cassettes? Floppy disks? These make the machine borderline obsolete.
Memory cards are still around, but most EM now have USB connectivity or USB flash drives.
Satin thread? Embroidery machines use Rayon or Polyester embroidery thread.
Having had the machine recently serviced is also a plus.
