The lowerloop thread kept getting cut by the upperlooper.....I rethreaded the machine in order and then made sure that the lowerlooper thread was UNDER the part of the machine that makes the looks the loopings (silver part that comes to a point on the right side of the needles...sorry I don't know what to call it) and the upperloop was ON TOP of the same part.....it started working great. I actually have very nice tight stitches now.

mine is doing the same thing. the above is not very helpful. i think it has to do with the little tab you pull out-it seems to get caught there. i don't know how to fix it. so annoying!

I'm having the same problem, my thread is getting caught in the little tab that you pull-out. Did you ever figure out what was wrong johatz?

I have a elna 664 pro overlocker. The thread keeps on breaking. I have even serviced it. It came back. Worked a while and it started doing it again. Works a few stitches and the tread breaks

Hopefully, it was recently serviced. Take it back and have the technician take another look at it. Do NOT unthread it (just clip the threads below the thread tree) when bringing it in so the technician can verify it is threaded correctly and also see where it may be hanging up.

Kenmore mini ultra The top thread breaks off from needle after a few stitches. The bobbin seems to Be catching the top thread. Thank you. ??

If the top thread sews a few inches and then breaks, something is catching the top thread and holding it until it breaks. Usually, this will happen when using the old style thread cones with the slit in the edge to keep the thread from raveling off the spool. To prevent the thread from hanging up, turn the thread spool over so the slit is at the top instead of the bottom. Sometimes top thread breaks will happen if the thread becomes looped around the thread spool pin.

Remove the thread, ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot and then rethread the upper thread. Verify that the thread path is correct and that the thread has not looped around a guide.

If the thread is fraying at the needle eye, the needle/thread are not compatible. Also, the tension may be too high.

Check that the upper tension disk is clean--no gunk buildup or thread pieces stuck.

If the thread is actually breaking when it penetrates the needle plate hole, there may be a burr or nick somewhere below that is catching the upper thread. You can wrap your finger with a piece of fine fabric, like an old pair of hosier, fine knit fabric, etc. and running your finger around in the bobbin area, under the needle plate. If you get snags, then you have a burr or nick. If it is small, you can sometimes smooth it with a fine emery board. If it is a large burr, you may need to purchase a replacement part.

Make sure you are threading the machine correctly. Make sure you are using serger thread that isn't old. Make sure you are undoing all the threads when it breaks and thread it from the beginning.

Make sure you have the right needles in their respective places. My Juki MO has two different size needles.

Top thread on machine keeps breaking , sews for a while, jumps a few stitches then breaks. Seems to make one long stitch every so often. Thanks

Refer to the manual for threading and thread the machine with the presser foot up.

Make sure the bobbin is inserted so the bobbin thread is feeding in the correct direction from the bobbin spool and through the proper guides.
