SOURCE: New 55ah batteries but charge won't last.

Battery life is affected by many things. But inside a tiled space like Walmart is probably the best possible running conditions. Make sure your tires are fully inflated, and you may need to have the motors check for worn brushes or maybe the wheel bearings are dry. Does the scooter push hard when in free-wheel mode? You may also need to have your charger checked, to be sure your batteries are really being fully charged.

SOURCE: I have a pride sundancer

If there is no power to the key switch, then battery has to be checked. If battery is new and properly charged then switch has to be replaced. The pride scooter electric system functions in this way':---- Two 12 volt batteries are connected in series. The voltage is applied to rear main controller, then this voltage is sent up to the key switch located at the console. It then travels to the meter, the horn, and back down to the controller. When the throttle lever is depressed in either direction, the controller sens approx 24 volts to brake assembly.Releasing the throttle and scooter will move in desired direction. ----------- first check the battery voltage. It should not be less then 12.4 on each battery. If its less then it needs to be recharged. ------------ Now if battery voltage checked ok,then move to the circuit breaker testing.Because from battery the voltage goes to circuit breaker. If the circuit beaker is open then voltage will not pass further to the console. Using a multimeter test the circuit beaker. take a voltage reading, from each side of circuit breaker to most negative battery terminal. To determine the most negative battery terminal, place the red lead of the multimeter to one of the positive terminal of one battery, and back lead of multimeter to the negative terminal of opposite battery. Read the total battery voltage. It is possible to get the initial reading of zero volts. If this reading appears then move to other positive and negative battery terminals and you should get total battery voltage approx 24 volt's. With the most negative battery terminal found take a reading from the metal tabs of circuit breaker to most negative battery terminal found. Both reading should be not less then total voltage of the battery, then reconnect the battery. But if circuit breaker is not giving any voltage then its faulty battery to circuit breaker connection. But if circuit breaker shows voltage and there is no power to key switch in console then its faulty key switch. --------------- For more testing and trouble shooting, before replacing the parts. Please click the link below:---- http://wheeloptions.tripod.com/MFRdocs/PrideScooterDiagPrior2000.pdf ------------------ Console testing is given on page number 105 of the link. ------------ For required parts and more help you can contact pride service center at 1-877-800-1248. ---------------- This should help.Keep updated.Thanks.Helpmech.

if I understanding this correctly , you cannot use the scooter why it is being charged, there is a inhibit pin that stops the scooter from being used,
All scooters are designed this way.

Why is my Jazzy discharging?

Either the batteries are faulty, or you have parasitic drawer. The most likely place is one of the motors. The draw can be measured with an ammeter. Disconnect the motors one at a time and anything else that might be drawing power, console, controller etc. When you disconnect the one that is drawing power, the ammeter will show it.

My Jazzy 6 Scooter will not charge at all, no matter how long I have it plugged in, I have had it since May of 2010,, used it all of 2 months and it has been in my garage since.

bzred since it sat so long without charging the batteries are shot and need to be replaced. If you had the problem before you put it up then you can have a bad charger or even bad batteries, I would replace the batteries and check the charger. Fortunately the chair has a 12 month warranty on most parts except the batteries. Better yet contact the provider who sold you your chair and they will have to repair it under warranty. If Medicare paid for the chair then they will pay to replace the batteries Hope this helps you

Battery fully charged chair levers engaged to drive position chair still will not move.. Jazzy 600.... Tried unlock/lock tried putting it in neutral back in drive with levers still wont move please...

Has your scooter been sitting idle for several weeks, or has it been connected to the charger 24 hours a days for a long time? If so, the batteries may have become damaged and will give you enough power to turn the controller on but not enough to make the motors run.
If the lights come on and are steady, the manual brake levers are in the drive position and the chair still will not move, I recommend replacing the batteries. If anything else were wrong, either the lights would flash or not come on at all.
I hope this information is helpful to you, good luck!

Chair is charged up. When we turn it on the lights, top and bottom set, flash on and then goes off.It shows a full charge when it flashes. Battery should be good,It's not that old.

You can visit this website to find answers on what the flashing trouble indicator lights mean: http://www.pgdt.com/scenter/diagnostics/diagvsi.html
Locate the page that has the controller used on your power chair/scooter and count how many lights are flashing to diagnose the trouble. If your insurance purchased the power chair for you, they may also cover the repairs; contact them for information.
Good luck!

My chair was going along fine and then suddenly ground to a halt with just one red light constantly flashing at a steady rate. There is no drive! If you press the horn button a second light comes on but...

If the scooter was sitting unused for a long period of time, the gel inside the batteries may have gone solid and will not allow a full charge. You may need to replace the batteries due to the damaged cells. If you know the brand of controller that is on the scooter, you can look up the lights codes here:

Jazzy Select 6 Indoor Power Wheelchair: how to charge...

The Jazzy Select 6 requires an off-board charger. Plug the charger into a grounded outlet; preferably one that doesn't have other large loads on the circuit like refrigerator, freezer, microwave, etc. The male 3-prong XLR connector coming off the other end of the charger plugs into a female XLR connector which is on the joystick control's bottom-rear. Charge it overnight after each days use, and at least once each month overnight. You should get 2-4 hours of use from the chair at top speed with a 200 pound driver, depending on terrain and climate. If it isn't holding a charge, you will probably need two new U-1 type gel sealed batteries that run about $120.00 or so each. Make sure you test the old batteries first at a knowledgeable battery shop. These are deep cycle batteries and require a special testing. If the batteries are good, then your charger isn't charging. Search EBay or other online sites for a wheelchair charger in the 4-6 amp range. They can be found for about $45.00 or so. Pride will charge you a lot more.
