SOURCE: Not sure if player is charging

QUESTION ONE:
Can you see it in "My Computer"? It will show under "Removable Drive/Storage"

QUESTION TWO:
Double click the removable drive to open the folders. Can you see your music, photo and movie folders?

QUESTION THREE:
Can you see the player in Coby Manager - under the "DEVICE" tab?

QUESTION FOUR:
When disconnected from the computer, how long can you listen to the Coby player before it goes off?

If not present in My Computer or in Coby Manager/Device Tab, then it is not plugged in correctly.
a. Disconnect the player from the computer.
b. Wait for it to cycle through "Please Wait" and "Updating Library" screens.
c. Make sure the player is TURNED OFF
d. With player TURNED OFF, reconnect wire to the player then to the computer.
e. You will see a USB connector icon on the player screen and the player charging.

It will appear to be charging all the while it is connected to the computer.
After it has been plugged into the computer for an hour, it should be well charged unless the battery is completely run down. In that case, you need to do an initial 8 hour charge - with the coby player OFF - through the computer. (This one got me when I first got my player!)

f. Use the Coby Manager to disconnect the player (Found HERE CobyMedia Manager fix for MP822 (Windows XP/2000/Vista)

1. Open Coby Manager
2. Go to the DEVICE TAB
3. CLICK on EJECT Button in lower right hand corner.
4. It will have a pop-up screen to ask "Do you want to eject?" Click YES.
5. The second pop-up screen will tell you "The device can now be safely removed from the system."
6. Disconnect the player from the computer.
7. The Coby will now show "Please Wait..."
8. It will take the Coby about 10 minutes on the "Please Wait" screen and then on the "UPDATE the Library" screen - Be PATIENT

You should now have enough battery power to use it. To check the battery level,

1. Turn on the player
2. The battery icon is in the upper right hand corner of the screen - it is ALWAYS RED until it starts to go down... I've not had mine down very far, but believe the red line gets shorter as the battery is wearing down.

Hope this helps.

Can't turn on my coby mp610 after charging it to full power It played one song, then pooped out on me ... just turned off. Can't turn it back on and when I hook up usb to computer it doesn't even light...

Try sliding the power button down and then pushing it in as well. My daughter's would work if we left it on after disconnecting from the computer but would not turn back on if we turned it off.
Finally, I tried sliding the switch down and pushing it in and it worked. I am worried how long this will work however and it does not inspire confidence in quality.

My Coby MP-705 Won't Delete Songs

I had the same problem - VERY frustrating. Just found the answer, and am very happy to share it!

1. In setting/USB mode, select MSC mode.
2. Plug in Coby to USB
3. Open My Computer. Look for the Coby as a REMOVABLE DISK, not the Coby.
Files will be there for Viewing and Deleting! (On XP, at least).
4. Make a backup of MTP.BIN and WMPInfo.xml, which I think is the operating sytem?

I got the clue from here:

Well, turn on you mp3 player, go on setting/USB mode and select MSC mode.

Then plug it on your computer and check in MICIN.DIR folder. You must find them.

It wasn't exactly what I saw, but once I looked, it was all there. Perfect!

Coby MP550 MP3 player problem

1. Make sure the hold switch is in the "off" position.
2. If the light comes on but your media doesn't play, it could be that you've load files which have DRM applied. The player does not support DRM, and thus can't play the files.Try playing a file that you are 100% certain does not have DRM applied.
3. If the light does not come on, the battery is fried (if LiPo batteries discharge past a certain point, they have a tendency not to recharge, no matter how long you leave it on charge). Return the player to the store where you purchased it.

Player is not turning on

Sometimes I must hold the play button down for over 7 seconds on my unit to get it to turn on. See also the answer to the question on properly charging the unit; i.e, have the slide switch in the "off" position.
If you are using a USB hub to charge the mp3 player then the hub must be powered.
