SOURCE: I have a Canon power

Hi,

Unfortunately what you have described indicates that there is a problem with the main circuit board.Make sure that the battery is fine.Clean the battery connector with a cleaning solution as dust and dirt could cause this problem. You could try :-

1. Remove the battery and memory card from the camera.
2. Let the camera sit with the battery and memory card removed
for approximately 20 minutes.
3. Reinstall the battery and power on the camera. If your camera still
doesn't turn on, unfortunately, your camera will require service to
correct the problem.

Note - On most occasions the cost of repair is quite high as compared to the cost of the product and investing the money in the new camera is a wise option.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

SOURCE: My Power Shot SX130 IS

Things to check first for a camera that won't turn on are battery contact points, and micro switches that are located on the battery and memory card doors. Troubleshooting tips on other things that need to be checked may be seen here. These tips won't work for every case, but they're worth a try.

SOURCE: need to replace battery door on canon sd400 camera

I have the exact camera. Spoke with a local camera repair shop. They had to send it back to the factory for the part and installation and am waiting for it to be returned in the mail.

Battery cover door replace

Canon will send you a new one for free or minimal cost. There is a pin that acts as a hinge. push it out from the side with a paperclip or very small screwdiver or punch. reinstall the new door in reverse careful of the spring. Some cameras, there's a screw holding the door on, in this case the new door will include the hinge.

I have a Canon Powershot SX130 IS and there is dirt behind the first piece of glass in the lens , anyway to clean it?

You shouldn't try to clean this yourself, find a camera shop that does repair or contact Canon, they will direct you to one in your area.

But before anything you better make sure the dust has any impact on the pictures.

HI, i HAVE JUST RECEIVED AN SX130 IS AS A GIFT BUT I CANNOT FIND IN THE MANUAL ANYTHING ABOUT THE SELF TIMER. I CANNOT WORK OUT HOW TO SET IT. CAN YOU GIVE ME DIRECTION PLEASE? THANK YOU V....

Press the Down arrow (from the buttons around the Func./Set button. Either turn the ring or use the up/down arrows to select the clock icon with 10 in it. Press the Func./Set button. Press the shutter button halfway to get the camera to focus on the subject as you normally would. Then press the shutter button fully. The lamp will blink and the timer sound will play. When there are two seconds left before the camera takes the picture, the lamp and timer sound will speed up. The lamp stays lit when the flash goes off.The Canon self-timer basic settings are on page 57 in the pdf of user's guide. Direct link is: http://gdlp01.c-wss.com/gds/5/0300003855/04/PSSX130IS_CUG_EN_03.pdf . Page 63 has the details for using a blink as the trigger for a delayed shot (since I wear glasses I've never tried this type of timer). Page 64 has the directions for a "take picture after a new face enters the frame of the shot".

If the direct link doesn't work, start here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/digital_cameras/powershot_sx130_is#BrochuresAndManuals .

I hope this helps.

you have a dial on top of your camera. where you can find 2 types of shots. one is Night scene. and other is Night snap shot. Second one is better.
Note that even a small hand shake will spoil the subject. Use a tripod for night shotting with flash

I'm having the same problem with my DSC-W1 camera. I dropped my camera and the battery door latches broke.
I found a replacement door on Ebay for $9.95
I followed the instructions in the description and easily removed the broken door from my camera. Now i'm just waiting on the new door to arrive so I could slide the new door in.
I hope this was helpful.

Here's the seller I bought the door from. Hopefully the seller has more doors. =) :
