My asus a6000 doesn't seem to notice it's internal speakers
I can't listen to anything except for that annoying beep from the system device. I have the drivers (possibly not the right ones) but i got the laptop secondhand. after about a year or so of reliable service it had been hit with a virus. So naturally, i reformatted it. The problem is that in the control panel it says everything under audio devices ( codecs, drivers, etc) all are working properly, however when i go to the devices pane my laptop says there isn't any recording OR audio playback devices. On top of that the headphone jack doesn't do me justice either. No audio, whatsoever.
True, true... yet i'm not sure which driver is the right one for an asus a6000. I don't have all the right ones since i never was given the recovery disc so i've looked up countless sites and downloaded driver robot and driver detective so not quite sure where to go for proper asus a6000 drivers..?

Well I, generally reboot my comp when this stuff goes wack. I'm guessing you tried that. Also, let it stay off for a while. Try reinstalling the driver, updating the driver, and/or downloading a new one. Please rate, if I was helpful.

Yes some-times the case/computer chassis does not have an internal BIOS/CMOS beep code speaker built in.
So what you will need to do is go to your local computer store and purchase a mainboard beep code speaker. You may even find it online at your favorite computer store.
The modern speaker is very small compared to the older mainboard beep code speakers.
Your computer will continue to work without the speaker, the beep code speaker is there to help diagnose/troubleshoot problems when they occur.
the internal speaker is only for beeps. These beeps are constant or short and only happen when the computer is trying to tell you how its about to die lol.
Buy some speakers. I would highly recommend a 2.1 system from logitech.
Turn it off. Remove the AC power-cord.
Disconnect all the devices (floppy, disk-drive, CD-drive).
Remove any add-on PCI cards (modem, network, TV, 2nd video).
Remove ALL the RAM.
Reconnect the power, and turn it on.
Try to POST -- if it is not "dead", it should "beep" a few times, due to having _NO_ RAM installed.
Turn it off.
Remove the AC power-cord.
Add ONE stick of RAM.
Connect the AC power-cord.
Turn it on.
Same "beeps"? Different? No beeps?
you need to go into the bios of your machine turn on machine tap del key bios comes up do not do this if your not computer ok. you can screw this up further

Currently you are using the onboard PCI video adapter. This graphics adapter uses you're system memory to function.
If there is a problem with you're system memory the beeps can lead one to think there is a problem with the onboard video.
You can not remove the onboard adapter so there may be a problem with you're system memory. (I doupt you're memory is bad) but on the other hand it might not be fully installed correctely. Power off the PC & unplug the power cord from the PC.
Please remove you're system memory & firmly reseat it.
Plug the power cord back in. Start the PC & listen for any beeps except the 1 normal beep known as P.O.S.T = Power on self test. Any beeps after that there is a problem with a device connected to the board.

That black disc is the "backup" alarm if you lose power.... The battery then takes over and "buzzs" throught that little speaker too wake you... even tho there is no power... Mine buzzes too... cut that little speaker outta there.!
