Projector lights up, but only half of the picture is clear, the other half is obscured, there is a (yellowish) line in about the middle. Left side of that line is projected but behind a dark veil.

This was after a shift of venue and after just putting in a new bulb (7 hrs).

SOURCE: Infocus X1A Projector

This is a very common issue with the Infocus projectors. Sounds like the mirror tunnel that sits right behind the Color Wheel and concentrates the light source onto the DLP chip. This tunnel which is shaped like a small prism is very fragile and can "fall apart" over time. Some have attempted to try and remove the tunnel and repair with limited success. Otherwise you may either need to send the unit in for repair or find a dealer who can order the part for you.

Here is another who had the same issue;

SOURCE: dark side of screen

the light tunnel has collapsed and needs replacing. the part is inexpensive and relatively easy to replace. if you can get the part from infocus or an authorized service center (part # 306-0095-01), remove the top (4 brass screws and 4 silver screws on the bottom, 2-3 silver screws on the back), next to the lens is the colorwheel. remove the 2 black screws on the colorwheel base, 2 black screws on the metal tunnel frame side, remove the tunnel glass. replace, and reverse the instructions to put it back together.

SOURCE: dark in middle , clear in upper and middle left corner

your light tunnel has collapsed and needs replacing. you can get the part and do it yourself, or you'll have to send it in to an infocus authorized service center. try av solutions in ny. they're pretty good.

SOURCE: loosing picture

if it is over half your screen it is most likely the light tunnel under the colorwheel. If you have had it awhile the glue that holds the tunnel together deteriorates and they just fall apart. Or, the mirror inside the lens assembly may be knocked out of whack, but it's probably the tunnel.

Viewsonic PJ1173 displays yellowish pictures, dont know wat to do

I presume that the problem started in the middle of the picture and has gradually got larger as time goes on.
It is most likely the blue organic polariser/filter glass plate that passes the blue light into the blue lcd panel.
If you were to take the cover off ( with the power disconnected) and check inside the optics area, you may see the filter burnt from long use on high brightness levels.

Either try and get a replacement polariser or buy a second hand PJ1173 cheaply on ebay and replace that part.

X2 projector A somewhat irregular vertical line has appeared near the middle. A slight rainbow affect at the line, right of the line gets progresively darker. The blank screen is normal. The projector is...

this projector does not have lcd's. it has a colorwheel and a light tunnel. the light tunnel has probably collapsed and needs to be replaced if you have distortion in the middle of the display. if it were to one side or the other or a the top or bottom it may have been adjustable. But wiith it being in the middle, I'd have to say you needed a new light tunnel.

Lp70+ display shows a solid black vertical line

the light tunnel is either collapsing and blocking the light going through it (and needs replacement) or the vertical/hoizontal adjustment of the tunnel. if you take the lamp out and move the colorwheel (with a pencil eraser) to the clear section, you should be able to see a square through it. if part of the square is blocking the middle, the tunnel needs replacing.

by the way, on some projectors the light tunnel is called an integrator rod.
