They have a service life of 10 years and have an inbuilt timer to let you know that by beeping. There should be a date on the underside of it. Remove it, look and if necessary replace it.
It is time to replace it. From the instructions.
IMPORTANT: Seven (7) years after the initial power up, this alarm
will "beep" every 30 seconds to indicate that it is time to replace
the alarm. Replace the alarm immediately! It will not detect CO in
this condition.
Look for an alarm button and see if the display indicates that the alarm is off. If no alarm button, you should toggle through the settings until you see the alarm settings. As you toggle through, the alarm should be turn off. For more help, please provide your manufacturer, make and model of what you need help with.
Detecotrs have a limited lifespan of 5-7 years. So sounds like you need new one (Its not worth to buy just a sensor). Take a look on amazon Amazon com smoke alarm detector (watch out on reviews). I hope this was helpful. cheers
usually if you turn the power off and on after a short delay the beep should go away. But the alarm fault code will keep showing on the display / drawer panel light until fault is fixed.
I would try and get the owners manual for the alarm system and see what it says about the beeping. It could be that it is just telling you it needs a new battery installed, something like the battery operated smoke detectors do when the battery is low. There are so many alarm systems out there that it is hard to tell what could be causing the beeping. It could have been configured with a audible alert that when the system is tripped by any motion it beeps when off. It is really hard to say without the manual. You can usually find the manuals on line at the manufacturers website. Good Luck, RAC
