We were having the same air flow problem, this past week, just about 5 mins ago, my husband took out the lamp cartridge and blew the dust off, so far our TV is working just fine, try it and I hope this work, we have already purchased one new lamp since purchasing the WD65731 65 inch model in Jan of 2007, surely we will not have to buy a new lamp every 13 months!
There is a sensor near the lamp that is bad. It looks like a small rectangle, which two wires dead end into. This sensor is faulty, and will cause this message to appear (It is highly unlikely that it is really getting too hot. You can do the other fix, and it MIGHT work). Call a technician to replace the sensor (its most probably a factory recall), and in the meantime, find the inlet on the tv (it should be on the side), and place a small fan there while waiting for a technician.
There is a known problem with the sensor as mentioned above. however, mine went a step further and they had to replace the "light box". Sort of like the brain that controls every thing. glad I had extended warranty other wise it wuld have cost over half the cost of the TV
In the back or around the set you will find a small door ither is a sponge like filter clean it with soap and water and replace this meens the bulb is getting too hot and set goes into shut down to protect the bulb

tv will shut off in a few seconds. check your airflow it maybe blocked? where is it
Air flow problem and gets to hot and shuts off after turning the TV on. Reset many times but does not help. I put a fan on the back of the TV and somtimes it cools down and will then turn on. My son has the same model and has had many problems also. The TVsare not even paid for.
I have a wd65731 in 18 months i have changed the bulb 4 times now they burn out in 2 weeks .I cant afford $100 a week
