Login in using your browser and go to the wireless settings and set-up a wireless password/key. Remember the key because each device will now need it to connect. You can also turn OFF Broadcast SSID and your network name will not be shown on anyone's device. You must remember the network name when using this method.

SOURCE: Unable to detect my router

This is because your router is setting your pc at a different IP address than your original modem. Make sure router is set to enable DHCP which gives out an automatic ip address and check your wireless card and network cards are set to obtain ip address automatically. It may take a few re-starts to get on the internet as your systems will need to clear their previous DNS settings. Also i assume you have set up the home network wizard (XP) as you are now using a router and not a direct modem. Also try Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.

Might I suggest that you reset the router to its default configuration by pressing and holding the reset button until it reboots. This way you will be dealing with the default configuration. Then try to use it. Remember the default login ID is admin and the password is Password or admin. Lets hope this helps

SOURCE: After replacing Cable Modem, D-Link DI-524 Wireless will not work

Did you call Comcast and give them the new MAC address of the Motorola SB5101 SURFboard cable modem? I'm surpised it works at all without doing this first. This is the hardware address of your modem so the world can see you, no one in the world has the same MAC address, they are all different. It's on a sticker on the modem.

SOURCE: Computer will not connect to internet through router

check the connections between the router and the modem either cable or dsl or whichever
and change the setting in the router interface so you know what the ssid is being broadcasted and the network key

Tried connecting my ps3 with the wi fi . It obtains ip address successful but fails to connect to the internet . It says dns error 80710102.

Go to the PS3 Network Setup, choose "Manual".
Leave the option for DHCP under "automatic", and under DNS servers, manually add:

208.67.222.222 or/and
208.67.220.220

These are the IP addresses for the Open DNS project and now your PS3 will be able to resolve internet addresses.

Connect ps3 to laptop via web and walk

Connecting PS3 to a network I have LinkSys wireless router which is working perfectly for other devices (like laptop, Xbox360, TiVO). My wireless network is configured to NOT broadcast the SID and with a WEP key. After entering this manually in the network setup on my PS3, I was able to obtain an ip address from my router, I was able to open the configureation page on my router, but connecting to the internet would fail with some kind of DNS error. The way this was resolved for me, was to enter the DNS server addresses manually in the PS3 network settings AND use tetertiary DNS server from my ISP as either the primary or the secondary DNS server. ..btw, this also fixed the similar problem I had with my PSP.. Thanks!

Can't connect to the internet wireless, I get a DNS error (80710102)

Try disabling the "WEP" key on you router. I've read the solutions from other contributers and tech's and this solution seemed to really work.

Internet connection failed but IP address obtained.

Hello,

Check to make sure that your router has gotten an IP Address from your ISP. Because you PS3 is telling you that it has an IP from your router. This means that the Router to PS3 connection has layer 3 connectivity, but what about from your router to your ISP? check that in the router by logging into the router's web page and going to the status page it should have your information from your ISP if it does not make sure that the main page is set to the proper settings either get IP automatically (Cable Modem) or Get PPPOE (DSL) connection (Make sure that your password information is correct to).

Now after checking these items make sure that you set the router up as the DNS for your network buy setting this on the status page then in your PS3 (set the DNS setting to point to your router, and set your router up as a caching DNS server).
Then power cycle the router after saving everything, and power cycle your PS3 after setting everything. This should clear up your problem.

Thank you,

Cant get internet connection on my ps

first check wether you received a valid ip address for your local network. usually, this should be something like 192.168.x.y. if so, then you might indeed face a dns issue. dns is used to resolve web site names to ip address. usually, your ip service provider will broadcast the external dns servers for your router to recognize.

try to connect with a computer first. if it works, check the ip settings. if your computer also cannot connect without explicit dns server settings you can do one of the following:
- explicit dns server address in ps3. go to "advanced internet connection settings", and then to "dns settings" and set the dns server address
- purchase a 30$ network router and hook it between your internet and the ps3. in the router settings, set the dns server address to be broadcasted to the clients. you can use 168.126.63.1 and 2 which are dns servers in korea (i live in korea), but you might want to find the server near to your location or promoted by your isp

Hi, i had the same problem but it was fixed by simply re directing my ISP's DNS settings away from Sony's. manually change your DNS settings to the ones below and it should work fine !
