If you can rotate the shaft replace the capacitor, if not replace the pump. This is a general rule I follow. I do not know your pump but this would be a starting point.

New XtremepowerUS 2HP In-Ground Swimming Pool Pump Variable Speed 2 Inlet 230V High Flo w/ Slip-On Fitting, i turned it on after 2 mins switch from high to low then shut off and get very hot.

All electric motors run hot and pool pumps are no different. But how hot is too hot for a pool pump? The first test is simply whether you can touch the motor or not. Under normal operating conditions, the motor end of the pump is hot enough that you can barely touch it - but not searing hot.

Best to you.

What could be the problem

Pull the pump out and see if just running 12 volts across it gets it to work. If that happens then it is not the pump at all but more likely fuse board or even the body computer.

How do I wire a cleaner pump to P1403ME, is the aux 220 capable?

http://waterheatertimer.org/Digital-control-centers-and-manuals.html#PE103
I assume both pump and cleaner are on different breakers.
Is the pump 2 speed? Or 1 speed?
What other equipment is being operated?

Lets assume 2 breakers, with single speed pump.
30 amp breaker and 10 gauge wire for pump
20 amp breaker and 12 gauge wire for cleaner
You can control 240Volt circuits by turning off 1 or both hot wires: In this instance the diagram shows both hot wires turned on-off for pool pump, and 1 hot wire turned on-off for pool cleaner

If breakers are inside control center:

My pool sweep had been doing fine. Now the new pump seems to be dragging as if it is running on half power and the sweep crawls slowly. The pump gets hot and shuts off. The pool filter pump on the left...

My opinion is that new pump is defective.

You posted under Intermatic pool timer.
The timer will not have any effect on the new pump overheating.

Insufficient wiring can cause new pump to overheat.
However if wiring is undersized, and/or if both pumps are turned ON at same time, the circuit breaker would get hot and trip.

Instead of the breaker tripping, your new pump is getting hot, and turning off.
Remember, any pump that slows down and overheats is getting damaged.
Replace the defective pump.

Intermatic c8866 1 hr cycle timer- wiring- I have 2 hot legs & neutral. Neutral goes to the clock, one hot leg goes to switch common, what does 2nd hot go to- normally open or normally closed? this is...

You have C8866 repeat cycle pump, that repeats the same program each hour.

Your well pump is 240Volt which is why you have two Hot wires.

One Hot wire connects to COM terminal.
Your Neutral wire connects to Clock terminal.
This will power the clock motor.

One hot wire to Load connects to NO normally open terminal.
This terminal turns ON when timer turns ON.
NC terminal is ON at all times, EXCEPT when timer turns ON, and then NC terminal turns OFF

Your second Hot wire runs directly to pump and does not connect to timer.

Just bought a house and it has a grundfos timer/pump attached at the hot water tank. I have no hot water and the timer doesn't turn (as I've seen other timers do). Is it supposed to turn so that the...

Grundfos is a sealed unit and not a repairable item.
The timer dial should turn.
And pins located around dial control ON-OFF functions as timer dial rotates.
geno_3245_93.jpg

Does the receptacle have power?
If receptacle has power, and Grundfos is not working, then it is broken.
Grundfos manuals for UP series pumps do not show breakdown or parts list of any kind.
http://www.us.grundfos.com/web/download.nsf/Pages

Bigger question:
Why don't you have hot water?
Is water heater functioning?
Water heater is a separate appliance from Grundfos pump.
Grundfos pump circulates hot water from tank into the lines so there is no waiting for hot water ... but hot water heater should still make hot water.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Water-heater-recirculation-system.html

Add a comment about water heater if that is also a problem.
You could have 2 problems, and water heater is main issue.

Qca hot tub pump not turning on

if the pump is a 240volt maybe a blown fuse. If you turn the tub on and hear the pump make a low hum it prob. is a bad pump remove and replace. you really need a multimeter to check to c if your getting power to pump. if you send me a email i could walk you through testing the pump and control box.

02 camaro wont start fuel pump relay or fuel pump ? How to tell ? The car started right up then died & wont start ! I dont hear the noise from fuel pump when I turn key !!

Take the fuel line off before the filter and turn the key on and see if you get any fuel out of the line. If you don't get any fuel unplug the wire connector to the fuel pump turn the key on and see if you get a hot wire going to the pump. if you get a hot wire then it is your pump. If you do not get any hot wire then it should be the relay.
