If none of your speakers gives any sound, perhaps you pressed the mute button on the remote control?
Make sure you have a source selected, that will give sound. Choose a low volume, before switching anything. You can destroy your speakers, when switching on with full volume.
If some speakers work, and only the surround does not work. check if you have surround sound as input. If you only feed 2 channels you can't expect to hear more than 2 channels.
Not knowing what model pioneer you have, it is hard to say with any certainty what your problem may be. It does sound like you may have a bad switch though. Sometimes a switch may be making just enough contact to let voltage through and lock up the microprocessor preventing any other functions from performing.
Was anything spilled on it? This is likely cause for buttons to stick or become unresponsive. Has the controller taken any major impact? I.E thrown at wall? If none of these, take a pin or paper clip, turn controller over, and gently push the reset button. I do not recommend taking controller apart, as springs for the triggers are easily broken and will void and legitimate repair done by Sony.
Mitsubishi WS-65511 volume control went crazy after a storm. Now we don't having any volume. None of the controls are working on the front of the panel with the exception of the device control.
The Volume function of that phone is controlled by the up down vol button on the phone. the only time it does anything is when that function is being used. ie. when you have the handset in hand the vol buttons control the handset volume, while the phone is ringing the buttons control the ringer volume etc.
The manual is not very clear. The volume control will work after entering the code for your TV make. Press TV Press AV and OK together and wait. The TV button will flash twice eventually. then using the numeric keypad enter the code ie 0680 for Panasonic, a list was provided with your instructions. On entering the code the TV button will flash twice again t confirm. Now the volume of the TV can be controllled using the buttons on the Thomson remote. Teletext and other functions like "mute" are now present. peterh
