1. Click Start , type services.msc into the search field, and then select services.msc from the list when it becomes available to open the Programs window.

4. Right-click Windows Audio , click Properties , and then verify that Startup Type is set to Automatic . The Windows Audio service is now running. The error message should close.

I'm assuming your running vista Premium - go to control panel - audio - selected properties - recording - mute it to 50% when in operation then apply close and reboot. this should restrict the sensitivity of the inbuilt microphone - if you have upgraded to W7 you will need to upgraded the audio driver package using the vista audio drivers unless there is one on the HP website.

Unfortunately the issue is with the Motherboard of the noteboo.
You could contact HP and confirm it.

Go to this link: www.hp.com

1. click on support & drivers
2. enter a product name/number which is: Hp Pavilion dv6000, then click go
3. click on HP Pavilion dv6000 CTO Notebook PC (this should be the first one)
4. select your operating system, and click next
5. click on the + sign by audio then click on download
6. after it downloads open it up and follow directions to finish install
7. if that doesn't work also download the Driver-Chipset and Driver-Graphics for your media
8. Note: you can download them all so that your computer will have the latest updates, then restart your computer afterwards

1. Power on (NO Disc.)
2. Press Pause
3. Enter 314159(with remote)
Display will show "FF"
4. Quickly press "0" (for all region)
5. Press pause
6. Power off and powere on after 20 secs.

Remove the drivers in the device manager. You do this by right clicking on my computer and choosing properties. From there go to the hardware tab and select device manager. Look at the audio section and uninstall all devices. Then reboot the system and let it recognize and reinstall all of the components.

To resolve your issue you should purchase one of the following:

You could get HP Notebook Media Docking Station

There are two different audio cards shipped with Pavilion DV1000 series Notebooks.

If your Notebooks belong to DV1600 series, your Notebook should have been shipped with Conexant High Definition Audio card.

This can be one of the reason why you are unable to install the Conexant AC Link audio drivers in your Notebooks.

You need to install Microsoft UAA Drivers first before installing the Conexant High Definition Audio Drivers in the Notebook.

Download the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture(UAA) Drivers for your Notebook from the HP link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32646.exe

Please save the file in the Notebook and double click it after the download completes to install the drivers. Restart the Computer once the installation of the Microsoft UAA Drivers is completed.

Now download the Conexant High Definition audio drivers from the link below :

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp32501-33000/sp32864.exe

Save the file and double click on it once it is saved to install the Drivers.

This should solve the issue with audio in your Notebooks.
