depends on what u mean by agitator works fine on spin? it doesnt do anything on spin cycle cause its not suppose to? if ur saying ur not getting any wash agitation? then I suspect ur cam dogs inside agitator are bad? remove the 7/16 bolt nut and remove top of agitator and u will see the cam dogs underneath it. there fairly cheap like 5-10 bucks for a set, if u can push the agitator back and forth when its all together in tub, and its catching the teeth and not easy to move back in forth, their not bad, but if u have no resistance then they are bad
The wear is preventing it from tightening correctly, loctite won't be a long term fix, it will still come loose again due to the forces put on the bolt by the vibrations of the agitator. The only way to fix it is to replace the agitator.
Depends on the type of washer but on some if you take out the softener cup from the top of the agitator there is a bolt or nut holding the agitator on. After you take the nut or bolt off the agitator should lift straight out. There may be something, a piece of debris from a previous cycle, causing the agitator not to operate properly. Hope this helps.
YES THERE IS! REMOVE AGITATOR BY TAKING THE SCREW OUT UNDER THE CAP. PULL UP ON AGITATOR TURN UPSIDE DOWN WILL FIND 4 AGITATOR DOGS REPLACE THESE AND REINSTALL AGITATOR WILL WORK LIKE NEW PART NUMBER IS 80040
Your agitator dogs must be replaced.
With a flat blade screwdriver pry off the top cover on the agitator.
Remove the 7/16 bolt inside.
Pull up on the agitator and remove it.
Purchase the agitator dog kit from the appliance parts store.About $10.00.
Check the agitator by turning it back and forth. It should work like a
ratchet (turns one way, locks the other way).If you're able to turn it
in both directions, the agitator dogs are worn and need to be replaced.
To do this remove the agitator cap and the bolt that holds down the
agitator. With the bolt out you can remove the top section of the
agitator (auger) where you should see 4 small white or beige plastic
gears (dogs). Replace those and it should be ok.
when you pulled up agitator was the splined shaft moving back and forth ? If so replace the insert in the agitator. If not the problem is in the transmission .
Check and see if it spins freely in both directions. If it does, this means that your "dogs" are worn out in the top agitator. This is an easy fix. You just get the new ones (usually 10$ or less), pull the top cover off the agitator, then pull the center cap off inside of the agitator. Then you just remove the center bolt and pull the whole top agitator off. You will see the 4 plastic dogs right on the top of the agitator.
