SOURCE: suspect drum bearings

most lg front loaders have the plastic outer drums which have about 16 h/duty screws holding the two halves together. extreemly tricky to strip to gain access to inner bearing and seal. Th/stat, motor, piping and other items have to be removed and dissassembled to enable drum to be removed. that repair i suggest for a service repair.

SOURCE: drum bearings

Removal of the front seal (just the side right next to the door needs to be removed) is a spring loaded wire. There is a special tool for it, but it can be done without the special tool. Other than that, mostly phillips head screws and a few metric bolts. The suspension shock absorbers have a tab you need to depress to push them out.

SOURCE: replace bearing

You can try a puller but typically it is recommended to replace the entire rear outer tub half (which comes with the bearings already pressed into it). You will also need the tub seal that goes between the front and rear tub halves. Hope this helps.

I think that this might be the issue with mine also. How did you come to that conclusion on yours? I really do not know what to do at this point.

Frigidaire affinity front load dryer

You need an upper felt and a rear drum bearing. If you buy the felt make sure you get the special adhesive to install it. The squeal maybe part of this or it could be the rear drum bearing. You can learn how to replace the rear drum bearing here in the article I wrote. http://gomestic.com/do-it-yourself/how-to-replace-a-frigidaire-dryer-rear-drum-bearing/

Hi Gene, I have an Electrolux FEX831C30 stacked washer and dryer. the drum in the dryer has completely come loose and has dropped to the bottom of the dryer cabinet. there were two screws in the drum. what...

Good Morning Brian,

The reason the drum has fallen free from the rear is a defective rear drum bearing and that drum bearing that has sheared itself off of the bearing support.to repair that dryer ya would need to replace the bearing kit its part number 5303281153 and would be in stock at your local applince parts store or online at searspartsdirect.com, repairclinic.com, apdepot.com, partselect.com, or apwagner.com

Before replacing the drum the drum bearing you should also inspect the heat element since when the bearing shears off its not that uncommon for the drum to fall onto the heater shroud and also break the heat element

While this Youtube video i have included the link to shows how to replace the drum bearing in a full siz e free standing (not stacked laundry center) dryer the process of how to replace the rear drum beaqring is exactly the same and that video should help ya http://www.youtube.com/user/RepairClinic?v=67hOqSFnX8g&feature=pyv&ad=9033434261&kw=drum%20bearing

Good luck,i hope ya find it very simple to replace that bearing,
GENE

I have a LG washing machine Wm2277hb. it needs outer tub bearings. what is a fair cost for thi service, or can i do it myself?

It would cost about $500 to $700 to replace the bearing. It is a big job because the drum has to be replaced because the bearing may have damaged the drum shaft so it's recommended to replace the drum assembly along with the bearing assembly. If you decide to do it yourself, you will need:
The rear tub assembly which includes the bearings The tub seal Drum assembly
Good luck.

Exacly how to remove rear brake drums ? 2001 Ford Focus SE. I don't want to remove the hub & spindle. I simply want to replace the drums & Brake shoes.

The drum and hub are one assembly on that vehicle so you will need to remove the dust cap in the center of the drum and remove the large axle nut. The drum/hub/bearing assembly will then pull off of the spindle.

If you want to replace the drum you will either have to find one with a bearing already installed, Have your old bearing pressed out of the old drum and pressed into the new drum, or have new bearings pressed into the new drum.

When installing the new drum it is very important to tighten the axle nut to the proper spec. I can get that spec for you if you need it.

The bearings on my Whirlpool Cabrio WTW6400SW3 make a racket on the spin cycle. The Whirlpool parts diagrams show that to replace the bearings, the entire drum is replaced. I can see one of the bearings...

Yes you can just replace the bearings but be careful. they say to replace the entire drum as the materials they are made out of is not very strong and you can distort or damage the drum when removing the bearings.

If there is water leaking then you need to repalce both bearings and the seal that sits around the drum shaft and protects the bearing. Check the brass collar on the drum support thats sits in the bearing is not worn or grooved. If it is the shaft and/or the drum need replacing too

How do I change the drum bearings?

The only 100% solution is to replace the whole rear tub half complete with bearings, you may also need to replace the drum shaft as well, because any slight wear on it will lead to premature falure of the bearings.

Loud vibration

the bearing is nothing to replace once you have it.

but you have to dissemble the machine ,
take off the top and bottom access panel,
front control panel , front door assembly

now remove the drum as a unit.
you have to mark any hoses and wiring you disconnect.

its best to do it in the middle of garage,

Drum will not rotate

im confused as to why you think no drum rotation would be caused by bearings. typically worn bearings would cause noisy spin. only if bearings were completely seized would that cause no drum rotation. can you rotate drum by hand? if so bearings are not seized. can you hear motor rotate when you select spin? if not, then likely cause is motor brushes. do these simple tests and get back to me if you want. and bearings are quite difficult to replace on this machine
