SOURCE: Windows 98 Driver required for sony cyber-shot dsc-w35
Windows 98 is not officially supported by Sony for the DSC-W35. You can find hacked versions on the web but they may not be stable. You can find a list of supported Operating Systems here at the Sony website. http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=DSCW35&LOC=3
I would suggest trying to use the Windows ME drivers. Windows ME was based on Windows 98 so the drivers for most applications are virtually identical. I have used 8 different drivers from other vendors in situations like this and it worked out fine. However, please be aware that since it is not officially supported it can cause interoperability options with your Windows 98 system.
This is the best suggestion I have. By no means should you get Windows ME, it was one of the worst versions of Windows released. Lots of bugs and there are less drivers for this operating system than your Windows 98.

Would you like to open your pictures from your Sony Cybershot to your computer? Your cybershot cam is usually plug and play so you dont need a software for that. All you do is to plug in your camera to your computer's usb port using the usb cable. When the computer detected the new usb device, open a Windows Explorer. Right click your windows Start button, and choose Explore. From the list of Drives from the left, you need to find the Drive letter associated with your camera. Just click on that and it will show you the files on the right. The pictures are located somewhere inside those folders. You just need to click and drag them to your computer's local drive.
Should you have any questions, please let me know. Good luck!

It is problem of lens mechanism and only solution is to replace lens assembly. Local camera repair shop will help you to replace lens assembly because it is not user level repair.
