The power supply to our PC (eMachine) recently died (our outside powerline was hit by lightning - which also blew the PC surge protector). We replaced the PC power supply (ourselves) and now the (F1903) monitor states "Going to Sleep" and goes into a power saver mode (solid amber light) almost immediately upon being turned on. If I'm fast enough, when it first comes on I can hit the Menu button on the monitor and see the menu, but it quickly goes back to "Going to Sleep" again.
We've tried unplugging (power) and re-plugging. We've connected the montior into a laptop and gotten same results. We've replaced the monitor cable and gotten a "Check Video Cable" message. After plugging the monitor into another computer (laptop) we've got the same message.
The monitor is out of the warranty period.

SOURCE: Going to Sleep
Due to the power surge, it is highly possible that the monitor was given a boot by your computer on it's way out.
This will short out a very small transistor inside the monitor on the video board and in turn, then monitor cannot see that there is a signal so goes to sleep.
If you get brave enough to venture inside the screen, then check near the cable input. The transistors are only around 3mm and have 3 legs (two one side and one in the middle on the other).
If you find anything like that burnt (get a magnifying glass) then replacing the board is the easiest option. Just don't be tempted to wipe the board before you look at everything very closely, you may wipe away the tiny bit of evidence you are looking for.
Hope it helps =)
