Your problem description is not clear, but based on experience I bet that your printer is taking three sheets of paper at a time. The pickup roller in tray 2 and the separation pad in the tray are probably worn out. They are easy enough to replace. You can verify that printer works properly by printing from manual feed tray and if that works ok then above solution is likely your fix.

Use recommend paper (see user manual). Do not leave paper exposed to air as it draws up moisture. check paper sensor flag near tray 2 p/u roller. It should move freely without resistance. It may have gotten knocked out of position.

SOURCE: error code 49.4c18

49.XXXXX ERROR
A critical firmware error has occurred.

Turn the device off and then on.
2. Try to determine whether the error
occurs intermittently, while printing, or
when turning on the device.
3. If the error appears while printing,
determine whether it occurs when
printing from a specific computer, a
specific application, or a specific file. If
all other computers, applications, or files
can print without the error, then the
problem may be only within one print job
or computer. Make sure the computer
has the most current printer drivers, or
use a generic printer driver.
4. Go to www.hp.com/support/LJP3005.
Click Download Drivers and
Software. Check for the latest firmware
image version at the bottom of the page.
If this firmware image is newer than the
one installed on the device and the
device can receive a firmware update,
download the newer firmware upgrade.
5. Try printing a job from a different
software program. If the job prints, go
back to the first program and try printing
a different file. If the message appears
only with a certain software program or
print job, contact the software vendor for
assistance.
6. If the message persists, contact
HP Support.

If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

SOURCE: how to i configure the

Hello, When you first install the printer onto the Network it will automatically find an IP Address, this is called "DHCP". In order to change the IP Address the printer needs to be setup as what is known as "STATIC". You can do this in in a couple of ways 1) Type the IP Adrees into an internet explorer Browser, this should open up the printers EWS (embedded Web Browser) if it opens click on the networking tab - Chnge the IP Address , set DHCP to "OFF"and click Apply. 2) From the printers control panel - push the "MENU" button and scroll down to the "CONFIGURE DEVICE" to "I/O" to "EMBEDDED JETDIRECT" Withi the TCIP setting you are able to change the printers IP Address

Check to make sure the paper tray is properly adjusted. All the stops should be against the paper and there should be no space for the paper to move around.
