My name is Peter. I am a retired field service appliance technician.

Maytag makes a good unit. Please give me more information. Is it a clothes washer or a dish washer?

Please provide the model number so I can see what you have.
These numbers are on the machines, usually after you open the door you will see a name plate.

1.) Do you have power? Does the control panel light up?

2.) There are several reasons your unit may not respond to the control.
a.) A faulty door lock switch will lock out your control.
b.) Both clothes and dish washers have thermal fuses. These too will lock out your control.

If a button exists for the child lock... hold it down for a few seconds... it might disengage.... worth a shot.... without looking

Thanks for using FixYa. To unlock the controls Press and hold Air Dry/No Heat Dry for 5 seconds or until the light turns off. Please revert back for more help.

Press the lock button for 3-4 secs - that should engage the child lock.

Check to see if your dish racks are in properly or take them out and then try the door.

For my old GE washer, there was a button with a lock icon. To lock/unlock it, you had to hold that button down for 10 seconds.

press the key with the lock button for 5 seconds. the lock indicator light should then disappear.

Solution: Hold down the power and delay start button at the same time. In about 3-4 seconds a beep will occur and the red key lock will turn off. I think it is a problem in the machines firmware. I just guessed at what combination of buttons the engineers used to do a firmware reset. In any case it worked for me.

unsrew the lid to soap dispenser and search for the cord , you probably have a bad wax motor(lock motor)
