Washer was not in use and lid was up. lid lock light started blinking and now washer will only fill and drain-will not wash or spin
Your washer lid lock button is locked and lid was not put down before it locked, which is why the light is flashing. Therefore, push the "START" button until you see the lid lock button is off (Approx 3 seconds). Once it is off, then you can put the lid down and push the start button again, which will lock the lid into place. The washer will NOT drain or wash or spin unless the lid itself is in the locked position. If you were able to get the lid down and locked and it still doesn't work, then you need a technician to replace a wiring harness. However, you mentioned that the lid lock button was flashing, therefore, it stands to reason that your lid is NOT locked down.
Testimonial: "I really appreciate the response, but I should have mentioned that I already tried holding the start button many times to no avail and I tried messing with the lock mechanism, which is not in the lock position."

Remove the front panel by loosening the two screws that hold it in place. Unhook the spring that puts tension on the tension pulley. Remove old/worn belt and replace with new belt. Very important that you use the correct size belt or the motor may be damaged and remember to hook the spring back for the tension pulley. The new belt has to go around the inside of the tension pulley.

Sounds like the lid switch which is only about 30.00 to fix if you do it yourself. It's a little difficult but it's much better than replacing or having someone come in and do it
