What chanel do i put tv on to watch dvd movies

Hi,
You are trying to work out how to watch a DVD movie on your TV
The DVD should be connected to your TV with Audio Video cables.
And it will most likely be connected to AV1 on your TV
The easiest way to find out would be to
  • Put a DVD in the Player and press play
  • Now the TV is probably in channel mode, so find the button on the TV remote that says TV/AV
  • now press this button TV/AV and it will scroll from TV channel to AV1, AV2 etc until you see the DVD picture.

I hope this helps you.
If so please leave a vote or comment.

Have a great day

The screen is black with Video1 in the upper right hand

Press the INPUT select button on the tv or the remote until you get back to TV mode.

Or leave the setting there and hook up a DVD player to your tv and watch a movie.

Good luck.

How do I get from cable TV to DVD player

All you should have to do is press the dvd button on your remote to go to the dvd player. Then press the vcr button to go back to the cable tv, if it is hooked up the same way as mine. And you can tell if it is by putting in a vhf tape and you can start watching it play. Otherwise you will need to press the input button on your tv remote until you see the vcr or dvd main screen. from there press the dvd button on your remote for the dvd player or the vcr button for your vhf. After you are done with watching your movies and wish to go back to the cable or tv programs use the tv remote and press input until the shows come back on

4.14.1 Understanding Viewing Features
Your LCD HDTV features four viewing modes and Picture-In-Picture (PIP)/Picture-by-Picture (POP) mode.
You can switch viewing modes using the remote control.
4.14.2 Viewing Modes
Normal Mode
The original 4:3 aspect ratio (1.33:1 source) is preserved, so black bars are
added to the left and right of the display image. Standard TV broadcasts are
displayed with a 4:3 Aspect Ratio. Movies in 4:3 Aspect Ratio may be referred
to as pan-and-scan or full frame. These movies were originally filmed in 16:9
(widescreen), and then modified to fit a traditional TV screen (4:3).
Wide Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full-frame movie in this mode,
the display image is stretched proportionately to fill the TV screen.
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1 source) program or movie, the
display image fills the TV screen. If you are watching a widescreen
(1.85:1 or 2.35:1 source) program or movie, there will still be black
bars at the top and bottom.
Zoom Mode
When watching a widescreen (1.78:1, 1.85:1, or 2.35:1 source)
program or movie, the display image is zoomed proportionally to fill the
width of the screen. The top and bottom are cut off to remove most of
the source material’s black bars. This mode is good for programs or
movies with sub-titles.
Panoramic Mode
When watching a standard broadcast or full frame movie in this mode,
the 4:3 Aspect Ratio (1.33:1 source) display image is stretched
horizontally on the left and right sides to fill the TV screen. The center
of the image is not stretched.

Note: Viewing modes are saved based on input. For example, you lasted watched a DVD in widescreen
mode and then watched TV in standard mode. When you switch back to DVD input, the viewing mode
will return to widescreen.

Can't watch dvds with my dvd player

Try two different things 1) on some of these tv's you could try pressing 00 to see if it will put you in input mode or 2) with your remote you should be able to push the input or tv/video to go to the input selection . In both of the above make sure you push the tv button first then step 1 or 2 . Good luck

Hitachi P42H401

Maryann,
You should have an RCA cable connector with your DVD player (three wire connector color coded yellow, red, white). If you plug one end of that into your DVD player (out) and into the input #1 in the back of your TV that should be sufficient. Then just select from the input menu on your Tv to watch that input. You do this by the buttons on the lower left of the TV. One is marked "input/exit". Pressing that button should bring-up your input menu then use "menu/select" button to select input 1 and try playing the DVD...
I do have the owner and service manual if you need it just let me know...

Watching DVD or VHS ...

I could not find the manual for your TV, but I did find one for model number 27N-S50 so hopefully they're very similar. If you DVD/VCR is connected to your TV with composite cables (the RED, WHITE, YELLOW cable set) then you need to change the input mode. There should be a button labeled Input on your remote and pressing it will cycle between the various inputs (Cable, Input1, Input2). I would guess your DVD/VCR is connected to Input 1. If you have lost the remote you should be able to get to the other inputs by using the channel selector button. Tune the TV to either the highest or lowest channel in memory and then press either the CH UP or CH DOWN button on the TV to cycle through the various inputs.

The other thing you should know is that there is a recall on this TV related to the power button. I discovered this while looking for the manual on the Sharp website. Go to this website:

http://www.sharpusa.com/products/support/0,2309,,00.html

Type 27R-S50 in the model box and select Television/Home Theater Projectors in the Product box then click on Get Results and you'll get information on the recall.

Also, if the info I've given about how to select the input does not work, there are links on the above site to help you get the correct manual.

Lastly, I don't get paid for this. I know it's a strange hobby, but I like to help out when I can. I hope you'll take a moment and give a prositive rating if this information has been helpful to you. Nearly half of the solutions I've posted have never been rated. Thanks and good luck.
