I have a Epson pro large format 9600, I print on canvas, I have use Photo black since I have it, but never getting a saturation ressult. I have been counsil by Epson to use Matt black rather than Phot

"Photo black" is designed specifically for glossy photo paper. Matte black is for non-glossy paper, including plain paper. Matte black will print darker on non-glossy paper than photo black does.

Mfc 6490cw print is lightly black so print is not good whot is probalem

Black is very difficult for an ink jet printer. If you are using the wrong paper, it even is more difficult. Please use paper made for ink jet printers, because the paper can absorb the fluid better so the pigment is more visible. There are also different ink's you can buy, but please if it really should be black, only use the brand own ink. Not a cheaper version. Professional printers even use different blacks for photo paper and for matte paper (and ink jet paper). Just to microbe how difficult it is to get real dark black on different media.

Compatibles wont work

Try this:

The HP all-in-one product will print black copies using both the color and black cartridges to create composite black in Normal and Best modes. This is necessary to create the correct grayscale shades.
  1. The color cartridge may be out of one color of ink. Perform the steps in the 'Colors are not correct' section above to verify that the ink cartridges are not low on ink.
  2. Verify that the correct paper type is selected in the Paper Type setting.
  3. Some photo paper has different chemical characteristics than Hewlett-Packard paper. The HP all-in-one is designed for use with HP Premium and Premium Plus Photo Paper. The photo paper, paper-type setting should be used with HP Photo Paper. For other paper brands, it may be necessary to use the plain paper or premium Inkjet paper, paper-type settings.
OR: The ink cartage you have may be defective if is a refilled or recharged cartage.

Won't print black when set for plain paper

Try removing all ink bins except black then you won't have any problems. You should also be able to go into your printer settings and select "Black and White" or "No Color" and it will print ok. Removing the ink trays is the easiest way though.

Out of paper message, won't feed paper

The feed roller was turning but the paper wasn't moving and so I kept getting an "out of paper message." The paper was actually getting caught on a small black piece in the back of the printer. I removed the black piece and the paper start to feed fine.

Remove the back access door (it just pops out... no screwdriver required). The black guide piece (2nd from left) is about the size of my little toe after I took it out. Use a flat head screw driver to pop it out... that should leave 3 black guide pieces left. Put the access door back on the printer and the problem should be solved.

The black, print quality when printing a document on white paper, is not 100%

Few questions, are you running true Canon Inks and refills are always a off black not a true canon black!

Have you tried doing nozzel check, does the top black squares all come out ok? if so it could be down to the paper and the inks!
if you use 80gsm paper does it print ok?

Hope this helps

Black colour ?

Thats because it's using the other colours to mix what it thinks to be shades of grey. Due to the black ink being pigment based and the colours inks dye base, when printing onto glossy paper the machine will use the colour dye based inks to make up black.
If you were to print on plain paper, set to greyscale, then the machine will just use the black as the pigment ink sits onto of the plain paper and will not run should the paper get wet.  With glossy paper the ink has to be absorbed into the paper ad the Black pigment ink will not do this so the machine will use the coloured inks.

Sucks but true.
