Timer stuck on cycle will work if manually moved

My washer gets stuck on the cycle. I can manually turn the timer to each of the cycles and it will run the cycle, I have to guess how long to leave on each cycle an than move it to the next. Any suggestions why the timer wont automatically move?

The timer has a small motor that advances it through the cycles. It either works or it's DOA. unfortunately you probably have to replace the timer complete.

How can I get my spin cycle to run if my timer is broken

If the timer on your Kenmore washer is broken, there are a few things you can try to get the spin cycle to run:
  1. Manually advance the timer: If the timer is stuck or not moving, try manually advancing it to the spin cycle. To do this, locate the timer knob and turn it clockwise until it reaches the spin cycle. Once you have manually advanced the timer to the spin cycle, try running the washer to see if it will spin.
  2. Use a multimeter to test the timer: If the timer is completely broken and not advancing at all, you may need to test it with a multimeter. You can find a multimeter at most hardware or electronics stores. Follow the instructions for using the multimeter to test the timer. If the timer is faulty, you will need to replace it.
  3. Use a jumper wire: If the timer is not advancing or you are unable to replace it right away, you can try using a jumper wire to bypass the timer and run the spin cycle. To do this, unplug the washer and locate the wires that connect to the timer. Look for the wires that correspond to the spin cycle and connect them with a jumper wire. Once you have connected the wires, plug the washer back in and try running the spin cycle.
Note: It's important to exercise caution when working with electrical appliances. If you are unsure of what you're doing, it's best to seek the assistance of a professional or to contact the manufacturer for guidance.

My washer gets stuck on a cycle

if you can manually move the timer to the next cycle and all works fine then you have a bad timer on unit... there are sevral gears in the timer usually made of plastic and over time thaey can get worn and not allow the timer to advance... if all works when you move the timer then most likely this is your problem (the timer) good luck to you

Cycle dial doesn't advance automatically anymore. I saw some listed problems that sounded similar, but not exact. Washer will work in all cycles, but only when I watch and move the dial manually.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

Its seems that the Timer is stuck, as everything else is working fine in the unit and the dial ust gets stuck and so won't complete the cycle so the problem is with the Timer motor going bad and needs replacement. Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Kenmore 300 washing machine does not leave rinse cycle

This sounds like a bad timer. If the machine is several years old, the timer could be in need of replacement.

If you are handy, you can replace this device yourself and you should be able to obtain the part from any local Sears parts store or from the internet.

If you are not familiar with this kind of work, it would be best to have a technician replace the timer.

STICKS on cycle, wash, etc. If manually moved

Do you mean the timer or control dial sticks. If so then it may be the timer mechanism itself.

Make sure that when you are skipping a turn on the timer that the machine is actually performing that particular task of the cycle. For example if the timer gets stuck before the drain cycle, and you manually skip forward to it, that it actually drains the water out.

If so then it is most likely a worn timer mechanism which sticks.

Frigidaire washing machine gets stuck on cycles

The cycle doesn't advance When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Asko w6221 front load washer stops after wash cycle

Do all of your cycles work when you turn them manually? If one cycle does not work when you turn the dial on it then it will be your timer (The dial assembly $100-up) If all your cycles work manually, then it could be your timer motor which is attached to your timer assembly. If you turn the dial pass the wash, on to the rinse, does the dial automaticly move (when finishng the rinse cycle)to the spin cycle? If so then your timer motor is ok. The only wires close to the bottom are the motor, but these should be high enough out of the way.
