SOURCE: the oven touch bottoms are starting to not work
Hi,
it certainly sounds like it's just the touch pad/membraine that may be going and not the timer/control by your description. does the touch pad visually look worn, i.e.cracking, discolored etc. ? there is a method to check those membranes with an ohm meter and about half a dozen hands, ha ha. (just a side note, on the control where this component plugs in can become contaminated with dirt and grease as well as other debris, at times I've been able to successfully clean the "ribbon connector" with some alcohol and a pencil eraser). but I'd suggest you call a tech if it comes to that.
the panel itself should be part # 5765M482-60. that is again based on info you provided, specifically the model number. also it will likely be packaged indicating it is a "whirlpool" item, don't worry, maytag is now under the whirlpool juggernaut.
hope that helps,
good luck
