G1 Keyboard typing gibberish

Lately I been typing text messages or emails and suddenly the keyboard starts putting out gibberish. It's as if I hit the alt key by mistake (even though I know I didn't) and am getting secondary functions. For instance, the letter H puts out a series of random letters and symbols and the space bar puts out gibberish and opens the menu. Other times it works perfectly. Has anybody else experienced this problem?

Sounds like you have a waterdamaged keyboard. If you can't get a replacement under warranty there is both an T-Mobile G1 Repair Guide and a third party T-Mobile G1 Repair Service, If you try a self-repair make sure you feel comfortable with opening devices like that.

How can I find and retrieve an email message reply that disappeared from the screen as I was typing.

Hate that. You might want to try hitting ctl-z right away. That's the keyboard command for undelete. My guess is that you're using a laptop with a mousepad. If so, you might be touching the mouse pad unknowingly and causing it to select text, then you're deleting it. It can happen so fast you might feel like a magician using slight-of-hand.

Best Keyboard for Drunk People

Have you ever tried to type a text message when you've been drinking?

Things may look a little fuzzy, fingers may be hitting all the wrong characters.. completing a short text message can be frustrating.. well not if you use my favorite keyboard tip..

Try installing this FREE Android app from the Google Play Apps Store called "Minuum Keyboard Free + Emoji" by Whirlscape

The keyboard looks kind of crazy.. it might even frustrate your friends when they first see it.. I showed it to this girl I liked to have her enter her number in my phone.. She screamed.. It was hilarious.. :)

but try it out.. you might find it amazing

1.) This keyboard will give you a bigger view of your application, rather than the keyboard taking up most of the screen space

2.) It has a very good word prediction and can often times figure out what you are going to say, so that you don't have to type it.. just select the words

3) When I can't see straight but need to type on my phone, I can hardly see what I'm typing.. Minuum doesn't need you to type the exact letters.. you could get them all wrong.. but still be able to select the right word you are trying to say, so that your text message is exactly what you are trying to type.. on another keyboard.. say you typed "Gpuulvvka," Minuum will figure out that you really wanted "Tomorrow" ..if I try that on Swiftkey keyboard.. my other favorite for the best predictions, it won't even know what to do with that.. LOL

Go to any text message or email typing screen. Once the keyboard is loaded, look for the settings icon htg_keyboard21.gif. Press it and you could see some option saying T9. Just turn it off

Yahoo support

If text changes when you type, it is either the keyboard or the program to which you are addressing your data to. If you use a word processing program, go to that program, open it and type a message. If that message is exactly as you want, no errors, etc; then the keyboard is fine. You may try and write some material in a word processing program and do a COPY of that data and Paste it into an email message to see if the content is exactly the as you typed it. If it changes, then your Email or Internet application is defective.

Fujitsu M2011 netbook keyboard/function key problem

The function key could be damaged or stuck down. If not, try going to Device Manager. Right click on the Keyboard and choose Properties. Click on Update Driver as it might find something. Reboot the computer. If that doesn't work, go to Device Manager, right click on the keyboard, choose Uninstall, and reboot the computer. When it starts up and sees the keyboard and loads a driver(s) for it, it might fix it. Good luck.
