Black toner don't print solid black as it were before
How does it print? have you replace the black image unit? NOT TONER THE IMAGE UNIT BELOW THE BLACK TONER CART

It would definitely be a High Voltage problem. The printer uses HV to create the image on the drum and transfer it to the paper. The laser erases the charge on the drum and wherever there is no charge the toner sticks and forms the image. The charged area repels the toner. Theory is the HV charge produced by the Controller board is diminishing and as it diminishes, the pages get blacker. If you let it recover the HV gets back to normal. You would need to replace the controller board. It occupies most of the bottom part of the printer. You can see it if you lift the small panel in the back of the printer.

Open up the left side door and push in all of the chargers to make sure they are seated.

Theblack print cartridge is empty or missing. The black-print-cartridgelight is blinking, and then printer stops printing. An error 40208 iswritten to the event log. The printer cannot detect the print cartridgecorrectly.

If the line has a 1/8" white margin on either side, clean your glass and mirrors.
If the line is all the way across your page, consult your users manual for cleaning the sawtooth electrode (open the front door and take out your waste tank, there is a green rod on each drum cartridge you can pull and hear a zipping noise) and cleaning the laser lens (there should be a cleaning wand under your waste tank, turn pad side down and insert in the gap underneath your drum cartridge)
