The
problem could be due to a communication failure between one of the printheads
(cartridges) and the All-In One (AIO) or by a short in one if the printheads. Please follow the steps
below to identify and fix cartridge issues:
Make sure the printer is on.
Open the printer cover. The
print cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position, unless
the All-In-One is busy. Note: If the carrier does not automatically move
to the center, turn off the printer or unplug the printer from the power
source and then carefully slide the carrier to the center.
Remove both cartridges from the
carrier.
Close the printer cover.
Re-brick your printer by
pulling out the power supply - black box behind the printer where the
power cord is plugged in to, and re-plug after 30 seconds.
When the printer turns on,
reinsert one cartridge first. Close the printer cover and check for any
errors.
If no error appears, reinsert
the other cartridge. Close the printer cover.
Replace whichever cartridge is
causing the error to appear with a new genuine Lexmark cartridge. Try to
print a document again to verify that the problem is fixed.

A quick fix for most communication errors can be achieved by resetting the printer and/or rebooting the PC. Reboot your pc. Unplug and re-plug the printer into the power source to reset it. When the printer turns on, try to print again to verify that the communication is back.
1. remove the cartridges on the carrier then wipe or clean the cartridges with wet cloth. also clean the gold connectors on the cartridges, and on the carrier also. 2. return the cartridges on the printer. 3. Turn On your printer and then OFF it by pulling the cord from the outlet. 4. Turn it On and do align cartridges.

I hope this information has been helpful. Thanks.
I suggest you reset the Lexmark Z2420 wireless network adapter. To reset, do the following: With the printer on, press and release the power button. The printer will enter power save mode. Now, press and hold the paper feed button. While holding down the paper feed button, press and release the power button. Continue holding the paper feed button for 30 seconds. Release the paper feed button. This will reset the internal network adapter (INA). When the printer has been reset, a solid orange Wi-Fi indicator light should appear. If Wi-Fi light goes back to flashing red, you have not successfully reset the printer. Start the procedure again. Once you have a solid orange Wi-Fi light, reconfigure the printer for wireless connection. Thanks.
