If it is the one that is on the end of a strap, at the end of the strap is a loop.
Feed the loop thru a small set of holes in the back of the seat. The seat should have 2 small, close to eachother, holes. It goes in one, out the other and then slide the clip thru the loop and pull it back tight.
The only other design I know of uses a screw to attach the belt, the clip is on, to to a nub with a hole in
it on the back of the car seat.
If by "clip" you mean the little bracket that looks like an "H" you thread the car's seat belt thru it, where the belt goes up to the highest point, and use the H clip to keep that part of the car's seat belt away from the child and car seat by weaving it behind the edge of the car seat.

Always make drawing and notes of any componentry no matter hw suimple before you take it apart.
Imagine the dimensions of the baby/child in the seat to coordinate the right lengths of buckle hasp sections to required to the buckle tongues [we can term them].

Some of these seats don't cater for removal of the cover and it is fixed on.
If it fixed on you may have to upturn the seat and soak the cover in suitable container of cleansing product by hand. Or cut cover off and apply 'velcro' strip to the two parts to join them back together. If soiling is persisitent the velcro will allow quick removal in the future. I think the manufacturers want you to go buy a new seat once it gets soiled ( :

What a great seat!

A few things to check: Make sure the seat was never in an accident before. Also, please ensure the seat is not expired, they are good for 6 years from the date of manufacture, which is listed on a sticker on your seat.

has the manual. I would recommend talking to the local police or fire department and having a certified seat person to install the seat and show you how to do it the 1st time. This will ensure the best installation possible.
