Is it the google account you used when you activated the device. If not try that but if so Im afraid youre going to have to do a hard reset.
You can do this by removing the phones battery...
after putting battery back in press the VOL UP and Power keys At same time
Once youve reached the unlock/reset menu select wipe data/factory reset by pushing the power button.
Make sure the sim card is in the phone and also fully pushed in (and the right way round). Also try removing the battery for a few minutes and try again.
if you fail it too many times (think it is 5x), it should offer you to reset it with your google account or using backup pin code, if it is your device, you surely know one of theese.
