My dell optiplex gx260 has no card inserted in it yet it gives plug and play configuration error message, what do i do

Hi,

Optiplex GX260 and GX270 has known motherboard problems. most of them suffer from bulging capacitors. call tech support at 800-8228965 and they should be able to replace the motherboard even if the warranty is expired.

Possible failures are:

  1. Powersupply failure
  2. Motherboard failure (Check the capacitors for popped ones)
  3. Front I/O Panel

Using dual monitors on a Dell Optiplex GX260

You cant.. Unless the nvidia card you added has two video OUTs. Plugging in a aftermarket card causes the motherboard to disable the onboard video..
If your nvidia card has two "outs" then you can use two monitors... most newer nvidia cards support this. sometimes it requires an adaptor, but usually it was included in the box

Dell Optiplex Power-on Problem

An Amber or Yellow power button means that the power supply is receiving power from the source but is unable to properly distribute it to the components. This can be caused by a defective power supply or a defective motherboard. Just to make sure that nothing else is causing the problem, remove any PCI cards like modem, video card, sound card, etc...
Look at the USB ports to see if any are damaged.

Dell Optiplex GX260 desktop-how to reset factory settings in BIOS

sir try to remove the pill battery its in the inside of ur box that return it that might give an error said that u shud configure again ur time and date but that is easy but taht will increase teh speed and gives a reset to full factory defaults
