SOURCE: GRIP SHIFTERS WILL NOT TWIST WHILE TRYING TO SHIFT

This is likely because either a) the cable leading from the shifter to the part you are pulling is seized or b) the shifter itself is seized or c) both are seized. You would have to undo the cable from the rear deraileur, pull the inside cable out from the casing from top to bottom. Check it and see if it is rusted or full of crud. Give it a cleaning and spray some light lube down the outer (black) cables, then reinsert the cable. While the cable is undone, it wouldn't hurt to see if you can twist the grip shifters. If they are still tight, then get some lube in the grip shift. Also make sure the rubber grips are not too tight against the shifter. Hope that helps...

SOURCE: changing a cable on a sram twist shifter

You should be able to push the cable back on its self, as long as the shifter is set in the relaxed position. Then it will be a case of threading the new cable through the shifter housing.

What would cause the throttle to stick at the hand grip

Causes for sticking are an abraded cable inner wire, a pinched cable, a cable gummed up with dirt, a gummed up twist grip assembly, an abused outside end of the twist grip and the twist grip assembly forced too deeply into the handlebar. Lube the cables with graphite lubricant only. Lock Eze is a brand name lubricant. If the cable is abraded or pinched, replace it. Please rate my answer.

My cable pulleyes are twisting the cable up on oneside of the machine

I had the same problem, came up with a fix: all you have do is put a zip tie ( panduit, tie wrap) on the pulleys. Install the zip tie so the top and bottom pulleys are loosely linked. this stops the bottom pulley from rotating 360 degrees (thus twisting the cable).

The speedometer on my 95 honda nighthawk 250 does not work.

look on the bottom of the speedo, there is a cable there that runs to the fron wheel, check to make sure it is tight, if it is not, tighten it and it should work, if already tight, unscrew it and check the cable inside, pull it all the way out of its sleeve (the black plastic part) it will be very dirty, so be prepared. ensure both ends are square at the tips, if they are not you need a new speedo cable, if they are square on both ends, slide it back in all the way down and try to twist it, it should not twist once all the way in(but if you turn front wheel, it should twist inside sleeve). once the cable doesnt twist inside the sleeve, match the square end into the square hole where you unscrewed it from on the speedo, then tighten the sleeve nut back on tight. if this doesnt fix it, repost as "how do i relpace speedometer"

The cord is so tightly twisted the unit can move far

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Are you reversing the handle after each use? If not the cable twist is worse. Orient the handle in the opposite direction of the twist and run the cleaner in that direction until you get the twist(s) to relax. If all else fails you can replace the cable with a more expensive one that has a build in swivel to minimize twist.

Antenna twisted off

This is a pretty easy fix, you need to remove the back, and locate the cable, either join it to another lead, or resolder it on.. you can get cable socket etc, from say Radio Shack or the like.
