Check your tv's setup menu. Some tv's require you to turn on the optical audio output. It defaults to being turned off unless you go in and change it.

Hello amanda_ma714!

Below are some links that should be able to help you in getting that setup! I am unsure the connection you're using, however you can browse around the link to get additional setups.

TV connection: http://www.mydish.com/support/receiver-tv1-coax

This link provides a brief setup from your wall to your receiver. Again I would recommend browsing around the link if you need additional info.

Satellite connection: http://www.mydish.com/support/1-to-2

If you have any questions or need further assistance, let me know here or at [email protected] and I will be happy to help further!

Most likely the unit does not receive power from main transformer. Possible several reasons:
- bad power transformer
- bad main internal fuse 7-8amp. Bad fuse most likely because of one of the channel is blown and shorts the power, so before installing new fuse good idea to check all channels by meter or at least visually for burned parts
- bad power relay
- bad connection, cracked soldering joints

Why does my Yamaha receiver control the power for all my components - when I turn off the receiver all my components turn off (or won't turn on when the receiver is off)?

This will happen when connection setup is through HDMI cables between all components. Turning off one thing will turn off all connected things in that setup.
This is not problem, in fact it is feature because HDMI cable has control signals as well including video and audio signals.
Hope these info will help you.
Let me know if connection setup is different or I missed any thing.
Thanks.

I dont know how to connect a JBL PSW-D115 into my receiver

Connect the receiver's Subwoofer Line Out to the Sub's Line In with a single RCA cable.

Not knowing your specific receiver I can only advise that you get into its setup and 1) tell it you have a subwoofer; 2) set the other speaker types you have regarding Large vs Small (meaning can they handle REAL bass); 3) go through all the channel level setup; 4) Rock On.
