The E1 error code on a Comfort Zone CZ220 heater indicates a problem with the high-temperature limit switch. This switch is a safety feature that shuts off the heater if it overheats.
To clear the error code, you can try resetting the heater by unplugging it from the power outlet and waiting for at least 30 seconds before plugging it back in. If the error code persists, it may indicate a more serious issue with the heater that requires professional repair.
Please always include full 'make model (what it is)'.

Rheem wants customers to call trained service technician since error codes are start-place for troubleshooting, and problems can be combination of issues. Risk of CO poisoning from improper vent, or clogged drain line causing damage to heat exchanger, and risk of homeowner working on complicated gas-burning appliances are reasons why Rheem instruction manuals recommend yearly maintenance by trained technician. That maintenance would typically cover most common error code issues, and homeowner could gather tips and information from service tech. I am not sure if you have gotten this issue corrected, or not, but the first thing I would try to do is to reset the heater computer system. This sometimes corrects and EO4 error code.
What you will do is open the right hand side door and find the POWER toggle switch, turn that off. Then find the CIRCUIT BREAKER for the heater and turn that off as well, then wait about 15 to 20 minutes. After waiting, you will turn the CIRCUIT BREAKER on first, then the heater. Try and start the heater up.
If the EO4 code comes back, there may be an issue with the heater. If the code does not come back and the heater starts, then the error code was what I call a "computer hic-cup".
I am not sure if you have received an answer to the issue, or not, but just in case! An EO5 error code is an open stack flue sensor, or switch, There are two forms of the stack flue sensor, so you will need to know which one you have on the heater.
What this error code means is that the sensor "read" the flue temp to be over 500 degrees. Usually, it is just gone bad and reading the wrong temp.
