Yes there are many difference between the old notebook RAM and new one.but it depends how much old is ur notebook. They can be same or different

As previous notebook contains different type of RAM but now a days they contain different one like DDR1 or DDR2.

So better you must go to h/w expert and ask him and confirm by showing that both are same or different.

That's good that both of them consists of ddr2, you can proceed further. chang the RAM but be careful that first of all remove all the RAM and then firstly implement the new RAM singly on the motherboard. if it is working fine then use the second one in second slot . no problem with that.

I change the ram, and then no boot, no video?

Hi there
There are a couple of things here possibly.
Firstly is the new RAM stick exactly the same speed as the old one? If it isn't then this will allow the netbook to appear to run but nothing will get done because the BIOS may not recognise the new memory.
Secondly, it is sometimes necessary to go into the BIOS settings to tell BIOS that the memory has changed and what it has changed to.
The first thing to try is to replace the old RAM and see if this cures the problem. If it does then it confirms that either a setting change is required, the 2Gb RAM is incompatible for some reason, or you may have damaged dislodged something during the upgrade.
Hope this is helpful

Note book blue screen and report some type of error

This is BSOD short for Blue Screen Of Death, it is usually is a RAM or driver problem. Claim warranty support if available. If your notebook is out of warranty do the following:

Remove the screws that secure the RAM access panel.
Remove the RAM modules and clean the gold fingered connectors with tissue paper.

Now reinstall the modules in the correct orientation. Attention to the cut-out in the module for allignment.
Secure the RAM access cover with the screws and power on.

If it still gives you problems install the graphics driver for your notebook. Visit the Acer website and click their support button. Then select Netbook, then Aspire, then One Netbook, then click confirm. Download and install the graphics driver, latest one only.

Heat is another factor that pertains to BSOD, overheating of the Graphics card, RAM or Processor can also cause this error. Be sure to allow air into your Netbook. Try not to obstruct the intake and exhaust vents.

Take care!

When I added ram to my laptop it started running slower. Did I do something wrong?

well there are many different types of speeds for ram, you can have a 1gb ram card but they all have different transfer speeds, so your problem could be that you replaced the ram with a card with a slower transfer speed than the original card had

MY LAPTOP IS RUNNING SLOW

This model is a "netbook" not a "notebook", the difference being "notebook" units have better processors and better motherboards .. especially when regulating RAM, bigger harddrives and it's an Acer, which may I add has an excellent track record with faulty units, netbooks or otherwise, and has terrible customer service.
