The reason this happens the most is because of the lamp being weak. I have not seen anything else cause this problem. You can varify this by turning the set off and wait until it shuts down totally.
with the Sony remote, press the display button, the #5 button,
volume down button, then power button. This puts you into the the factory error code mode. If you see the lamp code with multiple errors and no other errors shown, the lamp is the problem.
Most of Sonys lamps have a aprox life of 3000 hrs. Some last longer and some shorter.
I hope this helps,

Hi There

While this set is off, does the red standby light flash any error code?

Should be some short flashes followed by one longer flash, before it starts to flash again.

Let us know what the code is.

Good Luck!

Kdf-e50a10 green standby light flashes about 20 times.

At that price not a Sony Lamp, do not expect it to last as long as the last lamp did.

The tv will turn on but no the screen wont. and

Replace the lamp would be the first thing to try. Lamp door switch on this model is notorious for going bad. If you replace lamp and still won't turn on jumper door switch. If you take off back you can see switch board.

Red Light Flashes twice KDF-E50A10

Are you putting the lamp cover back in place before trying to turn the set on? The 2 blink error is a temperature error you might want to check the thermal sensor, is your lamp door warped?

Why does my sony vega keep turning it self off and back on again

Im guessing it is doiong this about every 30 seconds or so. Im also guessing that when the sound and picture go out, the green standby light flashes until the set comes back on. If this is the case, mine was doing the same thing. I did a bunch of research. I replaced the lamp and the tv is like new, no more problems. The lamp light on the front of the set does not come on because the lamp/bulb is noot burned out all the way. I bought my lamp from www.vanns.com , the best price I found.

Sony Grand Wega KDF-E50A10

The lamp light does not have to flash on this set for it to be the lamp, and most likely it is just that, the lamp. These sets when the lamps get weak they will do exactly what yours is doing.

Sony KDF-E50A10 50 in. HDTV stays on for 25 - 30 minutes then shuts off by itself power stand by light flashes green and turns back on in about 20 seconds by itself. can you help?

Hi, Lamp of TV getting weaker and requires replacement. This shut off by itself will increase day by day until you put new lamp in TV. Always Buy Sony original lamp and avoid aftermarket/ cheap lamp for TV safety.

No Picture or sound

The lamp cover door was not secured tightly. Door does not "push" shut easily. Got a little rough with it and latched it shut, then the tv worked fine.
