TV wont turn on after dusting

Either you have to take the TV into a service shop or aim a fan at the back of it to let it stay on longer getting some cool air on it :)

A primary reason for electrical overheating is dust. You might want to get a spray air can and spray out dust where ever dust can get inside the TV.

That's really a temporary fix or something that can prolong usage, but ultimately the TV will need servicing.

Possibly the switch near the lamp housing door, the plastic expands and the switch can switch intermittently, but could be related to lamp life, dust etc. Make sure it's well ventilated and vents are dust free, tape over that switch TEMPORARILY and see if it still happens Fixing Samsung DLP TV that keeps turning off

It could be but a couple of other possible reasons---they had problems with this set and its brothers with caps in the main power supply puffing up and causing this "hard to turn on" issue.

A second reason is dust/dirt inside the unit.

All air is coming in via the front of the set and exits the rear--enough dust gets inside and the fans slow down or the lamp gets too hot and set shuts down---don't try this in the house: we take them with back cover off outside the building (on a ramp) and with air clean them out completely--try not to blow it inside the screen. It looks like a dust storm in most cases but can cause exactly the problem you have.

Ours used to do that - and then we moved it to another state with us. Since the move it doesn't shut itself off anymore. I suspect that the problem was dirt and dust inside which got knocked loose in the move and the shutdown was due to thermal limits being exceeded. You may want to try vacuuming or blowing out the dust inside if you feel comfortable opening up the unit.

Drywall dust has ruined your tool. It seizes up bearings and bushings like you wouldn't believe.

It may not need repair or replacement.
Unplug the set at least overnight; the CRT (picture tube) has voltages that may be as high as 30,000 volts and take time to bleed off. Believe me, it stings if it bites you.
Remove the rear housing of the set, then use a clean (preferably new) 2-3" paint brush to whisk away any dust deposits you see. This works best with the nozzle of your vacuum cleaner near the area you are cleaning.
The problem you describe can be caused by an accumulation of dust that is picking up moisture from the air and temporarily creating a path for high voltage to discharge which can cause all kinds of strange occurances such as you describe. The warmup of the set dries out this moisture removing the discharge path.    If you don't remove this dust buildup, it will eventually damage the high voltage circuit if not others as well. That high voltage is a healthy static charge and wasn't designed to supply a lot of current which it has to do when discharging.

Ya, The service tech came and said it was the Ballast (power to the lamp). We also had to have the lamp replaced because the ballast was ruining the lamp.
Cost - $80.00 for first visit with diagnoses, Ballast $120.00, Lamp $162.00 plus another $80.00 labor.
Now I plan to call him back because there are a lot of blue spots on the lower left part of the screen, and the picture is darker than before.
He showed me one spot before he left and said it was dust on the "LCD" inside the TV and that it would probably work itself out. He said we probably didn't see it before because the screen was too dark. BULLS***! It's darker now than it ever has been. The brightness is set as high as it can go with out distorting the picture quality.

Resetting the tv by unplugging is definitely a good idea. dusting doesn't hurt either, because the dust can sit on the circuit board. when the dust heats up through use, it can cause damage to the circuits that unplugging and replugging won't fix :-)

Really dusty house, hey,,,, Take apart screen assy and vacume then dust with microfiber clothe. Use can air and brush to clean fans. Dust is enemy #1 to all DLP tv's

I just fixed the problem on my epson 57" living station. The picture is like new. Yo have to clean the dust off of the the 3 lcd lenses. (I'm not sure if thay are actually called lenses)
You can get to these by entering thru the front of the TV. Yes the front. You must remove the screen. There are A LOT of screws. This screen housing covers the entire front of the tv. and you have to remove the back panel and ALL the screws on the back of the tv to get it off. The only electronics that have to be disconnected are the Speakers and the front control panel. They both have snap connectors. After you remove the entire front panel which houses the screen and expose the inside mirror you will see more screws. You must remove those as well to remove the mirror housing. DO NOT REMOVE THE MIRROR FROM THE HOUSING. Note that there is a peg that is next to a screw in thre front of the mirror housing thst you must pull the plastic housing out in that area to release it.After you remove the mirror housing you will see the 3 LCD panels or lenses. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO REMOVE ANY ELECTRONICS OR SCREWS AT THIS POINT. Use a can of compessed air to spray the dust out of this area. I used a vacume to catch the dust as it flew out in the air. Try to hold the can as upright as possible.Keep hitting it with the air until no more dust comes out. Put the tv back together. As you open up the tv you will see dust everywhere. I took the oppurtunity to clean as much as I could. The Mirror though was clean an I was afraid to touch it.

I am a Construction Salesman yet fairly handy. I have no electricle experience. This took me 2 1/2 hrs. I spent the first 45 min. trying to get to the lcd panels from the back of the tv. Don't waste your time. You can't.
