Display remains in minimize display mode surrounded by black back ground how do I enlarge display ?

It could be a bad screen, but I'd suggest checking the screen cable connector (unplug and reseat it a couple of times). Also, check for any breaks, wear or fraying on the screen cable.

sounds like the backlight is going out do me a favor turn it on and put a light source next to the screen if you can see everything on your screen then its the backlight

You have to go to the control panel, to display, and settings, and change the resolution back to what's optimal for your system.

Hello There is chance of serious problem with the screen of the Your laptop. This problem is often seen in case of HP laptop which are more then 6-7 months old. So if the laptop is under warranty they(customer care) will replaced the screen for free. If not the will charge few $ and provide you with original screen.
