SOURCE: I HAVE AN ACER TRAVELMATE

Hi lanny,

This is caused by one of two problems either the button/light doesn't work or bluetooth settings are not configured correctly to allow it to work.

To configure it correctly go to start menu>control panel>Bluetooth and make sure that it is enabled and set to work with that little button. I would concentrate on these settings until i got it to work.

SOURCE: bluetooth

Regrettably, that model doesn't have Bluetooth installed even though it has the button for it available. It's a bargain basement, bare-bones model and that was one of the corners they cut to keep the price low. It would be available in the higher end models.

How can I turn on Blue tooth on asus f102 b note book

Hi Vic,

Step 1Push the wireless button, located on the palm rest or on the front, right or left side of the ASUS notebook or netbook. The Bluetooth icon appears on the screen, indicating that it has been activated.

Step 2Alternatively, press "Fn-F2" until the Bluetooth icon appears on-screen.

Step 3Alternatively, expand the system tray and then double-click the Wireless Console icon -- the blue and white icon with the "i" symbol positioned in the center. Click the Bluetooth icon to activate Bluetooth on the ASUS PC.

How to activate bluetooth

How to Use the Bluetooth in the Gateway Laptop
ou may have bought a new Bluetooth-capable device like a Bluetooth mobile phone, and may want to load some ringtones or media files that you have stored on your Gateway laptop. This might be the first time you are ever attempting to communicate with a Bluetooth device using your laptop. Normally, Bluetooth has to be enabled on both the devices attempting to communicate. It is no good if Bluetooth is enabled on only one of the devices. All attempts at communicating via Bluetooth will fail. However, if Bluetooth is enabled on both the devices, bringing the two in close proximity is enough for the devices to detect each other. While this is what should happen and it happens most of the time, sometimes the devices need a helping hand. Here's where you come in.
Instructions
1Enable Bluetooth on the mobile phone. This procedure is dependent on the make and model of the mobile phone. You need to see the user manual accompanying your mobile phone to see how to enable Bluetooth.
2Turn on your Gateway Laptop. Check the area next to the clock in the System Tray. There should be an icon with a stylized "B" on a blue background. This is the Bluetooth icon. Double-click on this icon and select "Enable."
3Go to Control Panel. Locate "Bluetooth Configuration" and double-click on it. A window should pop up.
4Select the Accessibility tab. Check the option "Let other Bluetooth devices discover this computer." A check mark should appear against this entry.
5Select the Local Services tab. Startup type for all services should be set to "Auto."Select "OK" and click. Wait for a few seconds. Your laptop should have Bluetooth enabled by now.

Tips & Warnings
If your laptop does not detect the mobile phone even now, turn off the phone and turn it on again while keeping it close to the laptop.

In most cases, you have to manually turn the bluetooth capabilities "ON' in the administrative tools located in the control panel. Click the START button. The go to CONTROL PANEL, PERFORMANCE AND MAINTENANCE, then click the ADMINISTRATIVE TOOLS icon. Locate the SERVICES icon. Double click the icon. To the left, you will see a list of options. DOUBLE click the SERVICES AND APPLICATIONS option. A list will populate showing the SERVICES your computer has. Locate the BLUETOOTH capabilities. Right click this option, go to PROPERTIES, click the DROP BOX menu. Make sure the service is set to automatic. Click apply and make sure you click the START button to begin the service. Your device should work after this.

hi

  • Open your computer's Control Panel center to access your Bluetooth Device settings. Click on the Windows icon or the "Start" icon on your computer desktop's taskbar at the bottom of the screen. When the pop-up menu opens, click on the "Control Panel" link.
  • Step 2 Access your Bluetooth Device settings. When the Control Panel opens, click on the settings link that reads, "Bluetooth Devices." This link will display all of the possible actions and settings you can take regarding your laptop'smag-glass_10x10.gif Bluetooth technology.
  • Step 3 Configure your laptop's Bluetooth technology. Select the "Start the Bluetooth Device" action. The blue and white Bluetooth icon will appear in the Windows System tray within the computer desktop's taskbar.
  • Step 4 Network with another device in order to import and export files. Double-click on the blue and white Bluetooth icon on your computer desktop's taskbar. A Bluetooth dialog window will appear on your screen displaying your Bluetooth technology portal. Click on the "Add Devices" action. You will then be asked if your laptop would like to search for other compatible devices. Click "Next" to proceed. You will be prompted to choose a passkey for the pairing. Create a simple passkey and click on the "Pair" option. When the notification is received by the other device, enter the same passkey to pair the device to your laptop.
