When we tried upgrading our Rosetta Stone on our Mac 10.3.9 we got the 2123 error and have now lost our Rosetta Stone. The people at the tech support told us they couldn't help and it was our problem. We now realize, of course, that the upgrade won't work on this computer, but there was no warning of that before we started. Our Rosetta Stone version 3 worked just fine before we messed with the upgrade.
1.)Open BitDefender Antivirus in Expert Mode,
2.)click on the Antivirus module
3.)under the Shield tab click on the Advanced Settings button.
(BitDefender Active Virus Control Settings window should be displayed)
4.)adding an exclusion for Rosetta Stone solved the problem
or
If you have any other antivirus software
adding an exclusion for Rosetta Stone solved the problem.
Go to COMPUTER open C:DRIVE. You should see a Program data or Data file. ( If you don't go to Organize in the upper left corner- go down to folder and search options- go to view- click "show hidden files" in the advanced options folder. Apply and OK). Open Program data/Data file you should see Rosetta Stone folder- open it- you should see a file named tracking.db3. Drag to desktop. Restart computer. Should work now.
It WORKED!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH EVERYTHING WAS AS LAST TIME USED!!!
This worked for me, but instead of 'tracking.db3' I had to fallow the exact same steps withe the file 'dynamicStoredPaths.' I didn't see a 'tracking.db3' file so I tried it with the later file and I got lucky! Just thought I would share this in case other people can't find the 'tracking.db3' file as well.
dragging the file to desktop didn't work for me - deleting the file worked!

C:\ProgramData\Rosetta Stone\tracking.db3
I recommend against deleting or moving the tracking.db3 file, since this
will cause Rosetta Stone to lose all of your progress.
After
doing some research about this error, I discovered that it seems to be a
permission issue with the Rosetta Stone data files. To fix, go to the
properties of your C:\ProgramData\Rosetta Stone folder and take
ownership of it and all of its contents. You should probably also make
sure your username is listed with full read/write privileges, but the
most important part is taking ownership of it. (You can look online if
you don't know how to do this). That fixed it for me, anyway, so
hopefully it'll help others who are still having problems
I just spoke to Rosetta Customer support re this error. The tech support dept said to restart the computer and try Rosetta again. If the same error occurs again repeat the process. My Rosetta Stone v3 came good after the first restart.
I know this is an out of date post, but zrax had it right.
just right click the .exe (the icon to load rosetta stone) to go "properties " then "compatibility" and check the box that lets you run the program as the administrator. This worked for me without having to allow it through my anti virus (AVG). Cheers. thanks Zrax.
If you have The Shield 2010 Antivirus loaded - right mouse click and place in Game Mode.
Turn off you anti-virus and it should work :)
To ppl getting error 2123, here is how i fixed mine (windows 7, 64 bit):

Click Security
Advanced
click Permissions tab
click Edit or Change Permissions,
check Include inheritable...
check Replace all existing...

click apply
2. go to program data folder in C drive : if you dont see it, show hidden files/folders and drives in the control panel
3. go into rosetta stone folder in program data and copy the tracking.db3 file and copy it to a different location,
then delete the original file in the rosetta stone folder
4. reset the computer.
5. execute rosetta stone.
you should get the 'register or not' question.
DO NOT CLICK ANYTHING. JUST EXIT!!!
replace the tracking.db3 with the older one that you saved before.
restart rosetta stone.
After my windows 7 update../.
rosetta stone error 2123 :(
i can't find tracking.db3 file
On my windows 7 laptop renaming tracking.db3 works after several tries and it is not a stable fix because after a normal use of rosetta stone, on next reboot, the error 2123 or 2125 is back again.
Rosetta stone works fine on windows xp. Using it in compatibility mode on windows 7, I don't know the reason, but it doesn't work.
My fix:
- Install Virtualbox;
- set up a minimalist windows-xp virtual machine
- install rosettastone on the virtual machine.
That happened to me...i just kept loading it until it worked....its probably not helpful..but just keep restarting the program
Hi Dears
i remove tracking.db3 ,and restart and it's work successfully !!! tnx all of you
If this is still active... I tried ALL of the above solutions, and eventually, it stopped giving me the error and now it comes up blank, as though I'm waiting for the menu to pop up. I will keep trying and waiting, but I can't see anything changing. :(

> Run as an administrator (you'll see that the problem is still there)
> Restart your computer
> Open Rosetta Stone
Everything should work properly now ;)

I had similar problem. I followed laikexpert advice (thank you) and added an exception on my anti-virus for the tracking.dB3 file and it seemed to work. My anti-virus is AVG and Zone Alarm. Be careful not to delete the original tracking.dB3 file otherwise the program forgets your history and all your past results will be deleted.
