ManyCam Video corrupted

I recorded a video through ManyCam and about 5 minutes in my friend accidentally knocked over th laptop which caused it to topple to the floor and turned off the laptop. Since we were in the middle of recording the video I assumed this was going to cause a problem and now when I attempt to open it in Windows Media Player I get this dialog box, "Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file." I have looked on here and attempted to download and play it in Vlc media Player but it just doesn't work. Is there anything I can do with this or is it pretty much lost?

okay, well I was really hoping for an actual answer that I couldn't give myself. I know why it happened. It is a video that can't really be rerecorded so I was wondering if there was a way of fixing it or if because of how it happened it is all lost.

It Happened to Me as Well. And Thanks Anyway People But EVERYONE is Missing what He Said so Maybe I can Explain it. (Take a CD for Example: It WILL NOT play on a CD Player unless you Finalize it First - aka: wav file - Now imagine that during finalizing CD, the COMPUTER Locked Up in other words NOT Finishing the Process) This is what Happened in his case as well as Mine. But I WILL Fix it. Give me another day !!

Take another video and don't drop your gear. The mishap obviously ruined the original.

Have you tried the file with another player like vlc or power dvd etc? If not try it.
If the problem is codec issue, installing codec pack will definitely fix it. You can install codecs pack like acemega codec pack, klite mega codec pack.
If you need them, download it from here..
Klitemegacodec pack (Open the page and select anyone from the list to download) install the program and restart your program, and again play the file which wasn't playable on the Media Player.
Good luck.
Thanks for using FixYa.

SOURCE: I am having trouble accessing videos/pics. on my laptop

Since your question is not so clear, I have to assume myself that pictures and videos saved on your phone can't play on your computer after they are transferred to your computer. The message simply means that the codec installed on your system does not support the media type that you are playing. If you don't have any other player installed on your system you have to try with this one Vlc media Player (click here to download). Download it, and install, now open the downloaded files (video or pic or audio) using this player. Hopefully that should work. Alternatively you can use this player instead of Windows Media Player, but on the other hand, you can still play those files using Windows Media Player. The only thing you need is to install a codec, like Klite megacodec packs, Acemega codec packs, etc.. Click here to download Klite mega codec packs Download, Install and restart your computer, now you'll be able to play any type of media file using your windows media player and other players.

If you have problem, let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

SOURCE: Windows Media Player cannot play

Hello and Welcome to FixYa!
Codecs, to be in Layman's; are the the files necessary to play Audio/Video files.
There are 2 ways to play that file you are having trouble in;

  • Either download and install a Codec Pack, like this. And play your file in Windows Media Player.
  • Download and Install VLC media Player, its a powerful player with all the codecs with it. (I'll recommend this, as I love VLC's power and ease)

If you have any Confusion, questions or issues regarding your problem do tell me.
Thank you for using FixYa!, Keep visiting..
If you think I was of help, your token of appreciation in the form of rating and a testimonial will be esteemed.

Try downloading and reinstalling the webcam drivers again.

If you've tried adjusting the brightness and focus on the application software then reinstall the webcam.

Easywebcame cannot preview video.. it say.. please cek connetion divice and the divice has been used by another aplication.. any solution? please

Copy this site and paste it in your browser address bar and hit ENTER.

http://download.cnet.com/ManyCam-Virtual-Webcam/3000-2348_4-10593500.html?tag=mncol

to your web browser and paste it in the Address Bar and hit ENTER.
Then download the program and install it to start having fun with your camera and friends.

Manycam allows you to use your Webcam with multiple programs at the same time. Broadcast your
Webcam on MSN Messenger, Yahoo!, Skype, AIM, Paltalk, and Camfrog all simultaneously. Manycam
also allows you to add cool live CGI (computer generated special effects and graphics) to your
Webcam. Make it appear as if your face or hand is on fire with our "fire" effect.
Pretend you are underwater or make it look like it's snowing inside your house with the
Manycam underwater and snow effects. Add text, graphics, or your country's flag to your video
window.

ManyCam is the freeware tool for you if you use both CamFrog and ICQ, or any other video chat
program, and you want to use them simultaneously. It creates a "virtual" Webcam that
replicates your currently installed camera. It then lets multiple applications
access the video stream without conflict.

ManyCam is compatible with Yahoo, MSN, CamFrog, PalTalk, ICQ, Skype, YouTube, and more. Once
you've installed ManyCam, you need to set ManyCam as the primary input for program that you
want to use. ManyCam will automatically start when you activate your Webcam through that
program. The application includes a bunch of gimmicky features that let you change aspects of
the background and foreground. You can map a new pair of cartoon eyes over your face, and they
track pretty well to your movements, or you can show that your life is hell by replacing the
background with flames.

NOTE: There is an unfortunate toolbar that will install unless you opt out during setup, but
other than that ManyCam is worthy of a Webcam Oscar for cool and useful tech.

Hope this is of some help. Bud

My laptop ( lenovo ) just got reformatted. I can't use it's built in camera. I need a user friendly software installed for me to be able to use the camera.

Have you turned on the camera? Press Fn+camera key. If you're using Windows XP, there are no drivers needed for the camera. To check, after turning on the camera (Fn+Camera), open My Computer. You can see the camera icon there. Open it. You can use that to capture pictures.

As for other software, it depends on what you want to do with it. For video chat, there's Windows Live Messenger or Yahoo! Messenger.

You can also download from Lenovo a camera capture tool. It has some user friendly tools to add fun stuff to the pictures. But only for Vista.
