your projector is having an electronic part malfunction, this is shown by the time frame you gave on your question and the reset option that usually fixes it. I am not all too familiar with a Dell projector , but check if the system has a CMOS battery that needs to replace and a capacitor that over heats causing the malfunction, better take system to a qualified electronic technician or a Dell service center.

If the issue is only 1 key,
Please try rebooting system in safemode and check if 'Alt' key works (to figure out if the issue is with OS or Hardware)
You can even try getting into BIOS and check the Key functionality.
Can try to clean or blow the dirt around the Alt Key.
If nothing works need to replace the Keyboard.

There are different types of cmos bat on different motherboard. Some are coin-type. If you have coin type bat for your cmos, get the part number and replace it.
