SOURCE: Miller welder serial number KF957066. Please tell

Miller welders are great. I've been around them a long time as an electrician in the mines years ago. They make a 3 phase model and a motor gen type too. They are both good welders in my opinion.

My welder revs up but wont put out full power

We need a better description of what is happening. I see many engine driven welders that when loaded up heavily the engine rpm drops because of needing a tune up or complete engine overhaul. Since the engine can't run at designed r.p.m. the welder won't put out "full power" With a better description of problem, Such as engine is not slowing down but will only weld at 100 amps experts here could help you better.

What is wrong with the idle on my welder? the switch works , it idles up when I switch it on high and it idles down when I switch it down but it wont go up when I strike an arc or use power tools, what...

There is something wrong with the auto load sensing switch which is part of the generator. That is the sensor that detects when current load from the generator drops as in when you strike an arc or turn on a power tool and cranks the throttle to full power. It is obviously working on manual because the manual switch is cranking the revs up so the solenoid that operates the throttle is ok. My advice is to take it to a service centre that deals in welder/generator sets as you are playing with dangerous voltages and may possibly damage the machine by tinkering with it or fry yourself (nasty)

Why would the welder on the miller trailblazer 250G 4000 watt generator welder quit working but the generator still works?

There could be a few different reasons why the welder on the Miller Trailblazer 250G 4000 watt generator welder would quit working but the generator still works. Here are a few things to check:
  1. Check the welding settings, make sure they are appropriate for the type of welding you are doing. Make sure the voltage and amperage are set correctly.
  2. Check the ground connection, make sure it's clean and tight. The ground connection must be secure for stable welding.
  3. Inspect the welding cables and make sure they are in good condition and that the connections are tight.
  4. Check the welding gun and make sure it's clean and in good condition.
  5. Check the main contactor and make sure it's engaging and disconnecting properly.
  6. Check the main circuit breaker and make sure it's not tripped.
  7. Check the power output of the generator and make sure it's within the correct range.
  8. Check the control circuit and make sure that it's not damaged or malfunctioning.
  9. Check the engine oil level and make sure it's not too low, low oil level can cause the engine to overheat and stop working.
  10. Check the air filter and make sure it's not clogged, if the air filter is dirty, it will cause the engine to run hot.
It's important to check the manual of the welder for troubleshoot steps and also check the warranty of the welder and see if it's still covered by the manufacturer. If you are not able to find the problem or if you are not familiar with welding equipment, it's best to take your welder to a qualified Miller Electric welder repair service center, they will be able to diagnose and fix the issue.

I have a maxstar 150 tig welder that i take with me in our race car trailer, the trailer has a 6.5KW onan NHE generator in it, the welder fails to turn on with this generator, i checked volatge and freq...

Here is the spec sheet for your welder. The only problem that I can see is maybe your power cord is too small. As you can see on the spec chart, the minimum the machine will draw at 115 volts is close to 20 amps. Now your have to multiply that by 1.5 for transformer surge. So now you are looking at 30 amps, which means you will need size 10 gauge wires in your extension cord. If you are going to do some heavier welding, you may even need to go to a #8 cables. What happens also, when you try to draw a lot of current, the generator will bog down, thus providing less power. It would be better if you could use 230 volts. https://www.millerwelds.com/pdf/spec_sheets/DC27-1.pdf

My lincoln welder/generator with onan engine will only run for a short time when it shuts down. It doesn't matter if in use or not, either welding or generating. It is getting fuel and the coil has been...

The engine has low oil level shutdown. It may be the reason for stopping.

Use the welder only at level condition. Check the oil level, before every start.
If no result, find and check the oil sensor contact (if possible replace with good to check). Try with disconnected and shortened contact prior to buying a new one.

Other possible reasons you already checked

It is not a problem like to know if i can use my coleman 5000 maxa er plus 10 hp. With A welder with out damage it. Tanks

Yes, you can use a welder with it. Pay attention to the ratings of the welder, don't exceed running watts of the generator. It would also be a good idea to try and use a welder that is less than the running watts rating of the generator. Then you would have some extra capacity to deal with fuel quality, maintenance history, momentary undervoltage, altitude, etc.

Lincoln Welder Generator Oil Question

Better late then never! im-308 total lube oil is 4 pints for a briggs and stratton engine
.
and 3.5 for an onan engine with filter change.

Note: an internal kill switch will shut down the engine if the oil level drops below a minumum

operating level on the onan engine only.

on your welder use a multi-viscosity sae sj grade or better oil. recommended is 10w-30.

if you work in cold environments use 5w-30 oil , it's thinner and will flow easier

during cold starts. Synthetic oil is better. just more expensive. change oil at least

every 100 hours for better performance. good luck!
